Be a man!

Hump an M-60 machine gun!

Its only 23 pounds unloaded.

I don't go anywhere without my M-60 and a brace of good grenades. No telling when a rabid chipmunk might be lurking about, or a vicious rabbit or something.

I'm thinking of maybe getting an Abrams M1A1. It can do it all and you don't have to worry about packing weight. Heck, you don't even have to carry a pack.

Bears, wolves, snakes, berserk juncos, other hikers packing heat ... no problem.

Why would anyone carry an "unloaded" M-60?

Short barrel Remington 870 shotgun with only a pistol grip, would be my choice. Fill it with slugs and buckshot...if you get lost...it would come in handy when you need to shoot some birds/ducks or a bear.

Any suggestions for a simi- automatic?

No but I think if I was Been loading, I'd carry something bigger than that 950 Jetfire. Some GIRL might take it away from him.

Abrams M1A1
I gota go with Geobeet on this`un. The Abrams M1A1 is da bomb as far as getaway rigs go.

It`ll make kindlin` out of a small forest in nothin` flat, hauls plenty of fresh water, coolers of beer and carries enough fire power to turn any ol` weekend getaway into a 4th of July celebration, complete with fireworks and star-burst shells to make those pissy little Petzl lights seem like fireflys.

Crank the turrent gun around over the side and you got a nifty divin` platform to show of your trick divin` and it doubles as a clothes-line in a pinch.

With the optional night seein` features as an add on, for $49.95 and with a midnight madness coupon and two boxtops offa Captain`s Crunch box and a Dixie-cup, you can hunt day, or night.

You never need fear things that go bump in the night again, like pesky spotted owls, Grizzer-bears, black`un`s, or even the odd polar bear that mighta spotted ya, or UFO`s on the trail, but best of all I love the look on the ranger stranger`s face when he shows up and asks me for my permits,...

Permits, PERMITS?? We don`t need no stinkin` permits:)

Phoenix Arms makes a real good compact 22 that's a semi. Holds eight rounds and is super small.

Whatever, ya flamer. Anytime anyone comes up with a relatively clever line you say they "stole" it from you. You're like a Christian that tells everyone he's a Christian. If ya gotta tell people ya are, ya probably aren't.

Ron M., a Michigan backpacker, had a great campfire story on Isle Royale this year about when he was an ATF federal agent. He was tipped off by a shipping company about a group that had a fully functioning WW II tank. When he inspected the tank, the cannon and machine guns worked. The owner was shipping the tank out of state for a re-enactment group. The ATF agent made the tank owner decomission the tank by destroying the breech of the cannon and destroying the action of the machine gun. The ATF agent decided NOT to prosecute the owners for a multitude of federal crimes. The tank owner did not intend to fire the guns in anger, just during the re-enctment. Could you imagine, "Hey, that last shell went long and blew up a church".

I was gonna scroll up and I hit submit:)
