"The Colts are 31st out of 32 teams in total defense"

thats a very misleading statistic. oddly enough, while theyre next to last in yardage allowed, their defense is first in turnovers recovered. and overall, the team is first in net turnover margin, with 17 more takeaways than giveaways. the next closest team has a plus 14 margin
crash bang

more interesting statistics: in the last four games (after the kc debacle) the colts defense has given up an average of just 301 yards per game, which would be good for 9th place were they to keep that pace for 16 games. probably a better measure than yards allowed is points allowed, which the colts rank 18 or 19th. so their defense has a propensity to give up big yardage but force lots of turnovers, leading to a performance which is not bad, not good, just decent. and enough to make one of the all time greatests offenses job easy.

Yards allowed is definitely a misleading stat by which to measure defenses. Yards per possession would be a lot better, but still wouldn't tell the whole tale.

Final score is generally a reliable stat, also wins vs. losses.

Oh be reasonable Nimblefoot! LOL!

There is also the choke factor. Let's face it, some teams just freeze up and choke come play off time. The Vikings, Eagles, Colts...

My Bengals never choke in the play offs. They do all their choking in the regular season.

“Roethlisberger has established an NFL record for a rookie quarterback by winning his first nine starts.”

This young guy is so humble. Every time I've seen him speak he's always giving the credit to Ward, Burress, the line. I wish Carson Palmer had the tools the Steelers have to allow a qb to be successful.

these guys have many parallels to the baltimore ravens who won the superbowl a few years ago: #1 defense, #2 running game, and a qb whose job it is is to be efficient but not spectacular, to move the ball but not make big plays. and interestingly, their only loss of the season was to the ravens

Burress is still only questionable so he won't play Duce, Bettis and Randle El are probable. They know how important this game is, the Jags are up against it.

Nigal, that is so right, all I've ever heard him say is praise for his team mates. That is refreshing in this day and age.

btw, that first td by TO was really a heads up play. not the juke, but the dive out of bounds rather than run out of bounds so as to break the plane of the goal line before hitting the ground and therefore being called out of bounds. since the goal line stretches infineitely, he was able to get a touchdown despite having broken the plane of the out of bounds line

The Bengals beat the Ravens in Baltimore! Yeehaw! The Bengals really are a lot better than their record suggests. They've lost about of their losses by only one score and they were within half a field of scoring on their last drive in those games. I wish they could get into a wild card game...

SKIN OF THEIR TEETH!
A W is a W. But the Steelers made huge mistakes but still pulled out the win. I stayed up until the last second until which it was anyone's game.

Still a great game, played in the trenches! Some fabulous hits and catches.

j'villes better than ppl think they are. they won at indy and almost beat the squeelers. i was rooting for j'ville so maybe, just maybe, the colts could catch the steelers in the standings. thats looking less likely every week now. but thank you anyways, colts are a virtual lock on their division title with a 3 game lead. its just now a battle with san diego for the 3 seed

The Criminal Defense does half their scoring.

Roethlisberger made me into a believer. I think he's the reincarnation of Johnny U. Nobody else worked a clock like that with under two minutes left in the game. That was art!

I'd love to see a Turnpike Super Bowl. I want another shot at the Pittsburglars. That would be a hell of a matchup. But I warn you, Fast Eddie is an Iggles fan!

Because they played the Vikes after the halfway point of the season. It was an interesting game. Daunte had a bad game, that happens to everyone. The Bears defense came up big a few times. But enough times to pull out the win. The Vikes D, hmmm, they played like the Vikes D.... Seattle up next, back to the Dome.

The Colts are the team to beat. With the defense getting better every week and the offense scoring at will they beat up on everybody. 4 straight games scoring at least 40 points or more. Manning and James haven't even played the fourth quarter of the last 4 games. Most teams don't score like that because they don't have the many weapons on offense like the Colts.

Shannon Sharpe said the Colts defense is still suspect but one of the other guys on the pregame show said "yeah, but it's the offense you have to worry about."

another decisive victory for the colts. I just hope they've got things under control with the defense. They've been a little unpredictiable a couple times this season.

7 sacks, 2 interceptions, a shutout thru the last 3 quarters. i think thats a pretty good recovery from the first quarter by the defense in which the kittens got 2 extra posessions. the colts defense is based on speed and timing, so theyre going be really horrible or really terrific. the scary thing is, the offense made a lot of mistakes and played almost sloppy and still scored 44 points. no one even talks about the triplets anymore cuz now its the freakin quintuplets!

Monday Night Football
...got pre-empted in Chicago.

There is/was a fire in the LaSalle Bank corporate headquarters that all the the local stations were covering.

Everyone is keeping tight-lipped, probably because "they" don't want a repeat of the fire of a year or so ago in a government building.

Last I heard the fire, orginally contained on the 29th floor, spread to the 30th floor (of a 46 floor building.)

since that TD happened in the last 2 minutes of the game I am suprised the officials upstairs didn't automatically stop the game and review it. He was clearly out of bounds.

It was a good game any way you look at it.

Next Monday night look for me in the stands at the Titans/Chiefs game...lol
