Refs? I have only seen some of the second half and the Pats have no spark. There's nothing emanating from that team. This is the Broncos game and the refs are not the reason, despite the one controversial call...

Colts CB injured in domestic dispute

NFL.com wire reports

INDIANAPOLIS (Jan. 14, 2006) -- Indianapolis Colts cornerback Nick Harper's wife was jailed on charges of cutting him with a knife, a sheriff said.

Hamilton County Sheriff Doug Carter said Daniell Harper, 31, was being held without bond on charges of battery with a deadly weapon and criminal recklessness.

Nick Harper was treated for a knee injury at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. His injuries were not life-threatening, Carter said.

Harper, a starter, was listed as questionable for an AFC divisional playoff game against Pittsburgh to be held Jan. 15.

Earlier, Colts spokesman Craig Kelley said Harper had required stitches in his knee following an "accident." He said he had no other details.

Kelley told The Associated Press later that he had gotten his information from Colts officials.

"There was not an accident," Carter said. He said Harper and his wife had been involved in a fight.

Harper, 31, was arrested in June on a domestic battery charge after police said he hit his wife.

He first signed with the Colts as a free agent in 2001.

Bob Kravitz
Let Dr. Bob talk you through your fears

Don't lie.

I can see it in your eyes.
With the Indianapolis Colts-Pittsburgh Steelers game finally here -- and it's been, what, 32 days since the Colts played a meaningful game? -- you're worried. Queasy. Uncertain. Downright mortified that this thus-far dreamy season will melt before your eyes, requiring our friends at Lilly to produce a giant Prozac that can be added to the city's water supply.
Here's the problem: You've had too much time to think. You've had an emotional bye month. And now you're overthinking this thing, mentally screwing yourself into the ground, convincing yourself the Colts are doomed, and we're going to spend the next two months talking about paper tigers and all the big games Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy can't win.
Stop thinking.
Start screaming.
Irrational Fear No. 1: They've had too much time off and they're going to be rusty.
Well, OK, it's possible. The players and coaches say it's not going to happen, but understand, the Colts are sailing in uncharted waters here. Nobody clinches everything after just 13 games. So, sure, they could be rusty early.
Or, more likely, they could be emotionally overheated.
If those are going to be issues, though, they won't be for very long. Maybe a series. Maybe two. This whole idea that the Colts have had too much rest, it's like hearing that someone is too rich. Rest is beneficial, especially in a sport where body parts are left all over the turf. There's a reason why 84 percent of these games are won by the team with the bye.
I've written it before: These are the 1998 Denver Broncos all over again. Began the season 13-0. Lost their 14th game. Mailed in the 15th game against a possible playoff opponent. And in game 16, they played the starters about a half, looked uninterested and won barely.
Two weeks later they returned to their 13-0 form, and steamrolled their way to a second straight Super Bowl title.
Irrational Fear No. 2: The Colts looked shaky the past three games.
The bottom line is, they still have not lost a single game that meant anything in the standings.
You say the Chargers provided the league with a template on how to stop the Colts' offense? We also heard the Colts' early-season opponents found that elusive template, and the Colts then went on a two-month scoring spree.
That 15th game, the Seahawks were playing for home-field advantage while the Colts, resting their starters after the first quarter, were playing just days after a funeral.
That 16th game, I could have sworn I saw my butcher playing right guard in the fourth quarter.
Irrational Fear No. 3: These are a different group of Pittsburgh Steelers this time around.
In theory, this should be a better version of the Steelers. Ben Roethlisberger will be healthy. The offense will have some idea how to handle the noise and the defense will be better prepared to deal with the Colts' no-huddle offense. And Bill Cowher will not open the second half with an onside kick.
We think.
I've got news: The Colts should be better, too. That 26-7 game, they sputtered in the red zone -- four field goals -- and committed a season-high number of penalties.
There is a reason why lately, the team that won the regular-season game also won the playoff matchup.
They're better. First time. Second time. Probably eight out of 10 times.
Stop me when this gets too complicated.
Irrational Fear No. 4: The pressure is overwhelming and will overwhelm the Colts.
Absolutely, there's a ton of pressure. They're supposed to win. Today, next weekend, the Super Bowl -- shoot, they're supposed to lead the AFC in the Pro Bowl, too. This team was built for this moment. Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison and Edgerrin James are all in the primes of their careers. There's a reason Bill Polian went out of character and signed Corey Simon: He knew this is the year.
And if it turns out that it's not? Manning will never hear the end of it. The whispers about Dungy and the postseason will get even louder. The arguments to keep James will ring more hollow than ever.
The stars will never be more perfectly aligned. The players are healthy. They are playing indoors. The only way this could be better is if the Houston Texans were on the other sideline today.
Super Bowl-worthy teams embrace pressure.
I believe, and have believed from the first day of the season, this is one of those teams.
Irrational Fear No. 5: Their soft (there it is!) underbelly will be exposed and the brawny Steelers will pound them into submission like the New England Patriots.
Have people actually watched the Colts play this season? They were second in the league in fewest points allowed. What did they knock people down with, their IQs?
When it comes to the Colts, it's like listening to your mom talk about you like you're still 12 years old. These are not the oh-no-here-comes-Bryan-Cox Colts of yesteryear. Just ask Pittsburgh running back Willie Parker. After Bob Sanders submarined him in the first meeting, he had to go back 20 yards to pick up his kneecap.
All the old story lines, all the dusty analyses, no longer have relevance.
So fear not.
Colts 31, Steelers 20.

Sorry about that bad call by the refs, pedxing. It seemed to be the turning point in the game where the Patriots started to lose composure. Now that the Patriots are out, that pretty much punches the Colts ticket for the Super Bowl.

Now I remember some dolt here saying the Seahawks were a one-dimensional team without Alexander. Well Seahawks fans have known all along that their passing game was their major weapon. Even in spite of three fumble give-aways the Seahawks still put away the Redskins with ease.

Looks like the refs were feeling sorry for the Colts. Totally obvious pass interference against the Colts that should have been called. If the Colts win, it will be because the refs let the Colts back into the game. Otherwise the game could have been a runaway win for the Steelers.
