Ebay seller punks out on me!

“I won an auction for a camping stove on ebay and now the seller wont send me any info or respond to my emails.I got the stove for a great price so maybe he figures he burned himself...He should have used a reserve in that case.
Anyway the auction ended Sunday and i have sent 3 emails and got no replies.I dont really wanna blast this guy for not wanting to give his stove but this guy has done 200 auctions and knows how the game works.Im more annoyed that hes trying to hide and not being upfront with me.”

“I, too, have had problems in the past with people on ebay. I have had problems recently contacting the seller of a pack that I purchased from them. I will be giving them the benfit of the doubt. I have had his emails returned, so we will see....”

Once the seller had a death in the family and was out of town and on another occasion it was a computer problem and the e-mails werent't getting delivered. Give it a bit more time and see what happens. Hope you get the stove.”

I have 106 positive feedbacks, both selling and buying, and only been burned once on a $75.00 saw. but, if he does that a hundred times a month, then splits and comes back under another name, that's a pretty good living at OUR expense !!
Just let us know so if we see him selling the same thing elsewhere, then some action can be taken.
I just bought a Coleman Peak1 442 off e-bay for $19.00. only been used a couple of times. I am very satisfied with it. (I do like the 400 better, tho).”

“davex....i had the exact same thing happen to me....i was winner of an auction for a new pair of high end new balance running shoes ($160 value) with a bid of $37.00....the guy would not respond to my e-mails....you must remember that he does not have the option of voiding this sale or changing his mind....if you do not hear from him in a reasonable amount of time, contact ebay....they will make sure that he understands that if he wants to continue to do business (and presumably to make money)on ebay, he will abide by their rules and regulations....in my case the guy grudgingly apologized and sent me MY MERCHANDISE.... good luck”

“I tried getting in contact with a person I recently won an auction with on Ebay but he wouldn't return my Emails. I did get one from his wife saying he'll reply within a day or two.

All I wanted to ask him was if he had anymmore of that item he'd like to sell that I'd buy it from him. But I never got a reply. I assume that's just a part of his business...buy and sell and ONLY buy and sell, and don't waste anymore time doing anything else.”

“The only thing i can tell you is to find some patience and wait a few more days. I would give him untill THIS sunday to return an email, that will give him 7 days(i think, right?)to get whatever he needs to get done done. I have a couple of times not recieved payment when i was supposed to due to computer problems, financial problems and other causes. One cause that comes to mind right now is email filters. A guy had an email filter on and as a result i could not contact him for a while, it wasnt until i used ebay's email system that i got through to him. We actualy ended up meeting with a group of other people and going on an overnighter. Anyway, the point is that this person you are dealing with might just be having difficulties and is not a bad person at all. Another way to look at it is, if you involve Ebay's safe harbor it will only prolong the issue. Have patience and try to contact the seller any way you can, save all emails and dates incase you do have to talk to safe harbor, start saving information now. I do hope everything comes out and you git yer stove, KEEP US informed. Good luck.”

Ebay bought Paypal and will be using it to be their payment processor. Eventually all ebay transactions will be pushed throught the Paypal engine. I'd expect a lot of problems in the next few months as they intagrate their systems and try to sort out the mess of code that is Paypal.”

“I bought a Mountainsmith backpack at a really this past spring from Ebay and the guy cotacted me within an hour.I contacted him back within the next 30 minutes and within 2 hours of the auction had put a money order in the mail.After that he wouldn't answer my emails for another 3 weeks.I finally did some over the phone investigating and found this 30 year old guys Dad and through him I got my pack 6 weeks later.I guess patience is not one of my best vertues cause I told the guy that Iffin I didn't get my pack soon I was going to drive out IL. to kick his @ss! When I got the pack there was a brand new Gerber in a sheath on the hip belt!”

seller finally contacted me.He seemed pretty irate with me.Some nerve.This guy has email blockers on exclusive prolly and never contacts me at end of auction like his add states he will!He also states that shipping and handling costs will be 9.43( a small stove in a 10 inch box?)-in the ad he says that shipping will be based on actual USPS charges NO handling charges are mentioned.This guy has really good feedback but has been a total ass on this auction.”

“I won a bid once on an "Army of Darkness" poster and didn't get it until 5 weeks later. The lady selling it was evasive to my e-mails and really left me hanging.

Having said that, I've won bids on probably a dozen other items or so with no problems. Most of the stuff was old computers and gaming systems, or shall I say antique (TI 99/4A, Commodore 64, Atari 2600, ect.).. I think a big reason for the good service was because computer geeks as a whole are pretty honorable people.”

“I have noticed that some sellers will inflate the shipping and handling on items that they feel did not get them a good bid. There is no way that S/H would cost that much for that package. Too bad that there are all kinds on eBay and you have to take the good with the bad.

I got into a fight with someone recently over a pair of snow shoes. I won the auction, but the guy did not feel like giving them to me for the bid price. He wanted another 20 bucks!”

“On most items that I've bid on, the shipping price is given on the bid description page. If it differs let the seller know. If they still insist DON'T by it.”

“I've gotten several thangs off eBay too. Not had any troubles thus far. Yeah, some ppl try to make up for their sell loss by inflating the shipping charge. I avoid this by buying on items that have the s/h charge in their description. If they don't, then I ask for a price before bidding. They should get the rough estimate by a few dollars.

Having said that however, davex your impatience is making you be a pain in the ass. The seller has a complete 3 days until his first contact of you. Of course he's gonna be irate with you, and of course he has some nerve to tell you to quit being a pain in his/her rectom! As for the shipping charge, it's a bit too high. But ...... pay it and then leave him/her positive feedback. Next time inquire if it's not posted. Some will ask for your zip and can give you the price to the penny.

“I have some few times charged an inflated S&H fee. These very few times i had to adjust the fee because the item needed a special container(sold a shimano f-rod, had to make a pvc pipe container to make sure the rod got there in one piece, when i explained the elevated cost of shipping(pvc pipe is heavy) to the gentleman he told me he would pay twice the S&H amount just because i was conciderate enough to make sure the rod got to him in good shape. No, i didnt charge him double. He still sent me a M.O. for $10 later and with it was a note that read "I didnt think it was fair not to pay you for my new rod carying case". We still email every now and then). Sorry for loosing track, my point is that SOME times a slightly higher S&H cost is warranted, in this case davex, it looks like this person is shipping you the SHAFT dude. I do hope the stove is worth it. Let us know if it was.”

“I've bought and sold on ebay and I'd say 99 percent of the people I've delt with are very nice. Only once have I had any kind of trouble. High shipping and handling is really a way to scam ebay, because you don't have to pay them on it. I do the same thing when I sell, but I post the price first.”
