since there a buncha newbees (and trolls) here....
Can't ya'll get away from football, stranded cats, skinny girls with big boobs, religion, politics, and lost sunglasses and get this site back to the basics??
There are a few of us here that want to learn as much as we can from you "seasoned veterans" in the "art" of backpacking.
Just tossing in my dos centavos here as Fall is in the air and a lot of us are ready to hit the trails, inexperienced as we may be.

treker J i agree with you that sometimes (especially today it seems) that things get crazy here but you really dont have to read thoses threds that dont pertain to bping. Sometimes ppl come here for companionship and support with other bprs.

This has been discussed in another thread. TT has compared to a campfire; such that all topics are fair game. TJ do you only talk about BPing around the campfire?

You're right, Tango. Since many, of this group, have met and hiked with alot of other TTers, there's gonna be some personal chit chat. But, we could sure do with a little less troll crap.

Hope you can make it out to a TT trip sometime, TJ. Based on the 30, or so, that I've met, they're a great bunch, to hike with

Any respectable newbie would post their gear list on one of those other boards where they will disect it with enthusiastic vigor, and even suggest lighter alternatives to their hemmoriod cremes.

On this board we like to talk about big boobs (or lack of em)!

toothpaste. But you have to apply it with your 'broken handle' toothbrush

But, a reliable source assures me, that hemmoroid creme works well for mosquito bites, as well. .... Now if only you could brush your teeth with it.

How to cut pack weight from 300 to 36 pounds
1. Go hiking with 300-pound pack.

2. When you get home, throw out things you didn't use until it weighs only 36 pounds.

3. Go hiking again with 36 pound pack.

Glad to help.

TJ, if you're looking for proper grammar and spelling in your mesage boards, perhaps this isn't the right place. This is Thebackpacker.com, not the UofMarylandspellcheck.com. A lot of the people here who aren't the strongest spellers or typers in the world have given me excellent advice on backpacking and other things.

trekker john, you've done it again
without reading this whole thread, for lack of interest. dude, you've been told time and time again you have to root through what you dont want to read. we have periods like this where a bunch(or a couple) people get bored and do what's been going on here today. it'll go away, but i have some advice about learning to backpack
go backpacking, it's your best bet. carry your stuff and see what you don't use. then figure out what you can replace with lighter stuff. ask your questions here and read the answers ignoring the ones you choose to ignore.
if you want to #&%!$ about something you're only adding to the non backpacking stuff which you don't want. ignore it, you have to put up with it in order to not have what they have at Backpacker.com. go check it out by the way, i think you'll like it there.
