Don't you think?
Its so cool when you are backpacking on your favorite trail that when you stop and look all around you and you see all the greatness of the wilds.

I think it is such a great feeling how you can hear the wind in the trees and see all the nice things in the forest along the trail.

Like now the trees are showing us there blaze of color and there is a nip in the air.

I can't wait each week untill Friday becuase I know the next day I am going to be on the trail.

Fall & Winter
I dig the Fall colors, the cool breeze, walking up never ending Mountains, the views through the trees you have that you don't get in the Summer, Ice hanging from the rock bluffs, no bugs, less people on the trail, Pines, Cedars, & other evergreens are more visable with the leaves down,.........

DAM I WISH IT WERE HERE NOW!!!!!

So, like when I dig a cathole, am I defacing the art, or adding to it?

No picture, no painting will ever do nature justice.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, being there is worth a million pictures!

Oh no I am waxing philosophical. Time for bed!!

I love the soft beauty of the outdoors. How the wind drives through the trees, shaking hands with them as it passes. The sounds of nature that fill the air, remind me that no matter how hard I work, no matter how much money I make, no matter how fast I drive to work, it is still there and always will be. One of the best things I like about the outdoors is that when my first step hits the trail, I am a different person. No deadlines to be met, no sound of the bosses bark. Peace, Zen, serenity, love, happiness is what I feel as I become one with Mother Earth. I miss her every day I am not in her arms. I look forward to her glance as I drive up to the trailhead and see her welcoming me like an old friend. I feel like it’s an embrace, like I’m back home, when I walk down the first 100 steps of the trail....

Art mimics nature, not the other way around

Other than that, I agree!

Davex, evergreen, & others who feel the same. I agree, I have been in a few churchs and always felt lost and confused. I have felt lost in the wilderness, but never confused there.

I love being out in the woods. I grew up in the forested boonies of Mi., and I could never get enough of the smells of the woods, especially the earth. The clay soil around the house, freshly turned in the warm sun, or the tang of the black slick in the bottom of the cedar swamps where my brother lived. Except for the skunk cabbages. I love the smell of the dirt and the air in the Smokies in late november, after all the leaves have fallen. The dirt and fallen leaves, just starting to decompose, smell so sweet, like good tobacco. Or the suprising smell of sourwood leaves, almost like tangy candy.
When I am out there, in the right time of year, that is when I know God. Because that is when the earth turns to God, to sustain it through its sleep.
