“Today I took a minute of last weeks 3.1 mile time and ran a 17:23. I took 2nd place and felt great. I could have ran harder but there was no reason to, cause I had no one around me. Maybe last weekends work out really helped. I hike 22 miles on sat and ran 12 on sunday. WHOOOOOOOOOOOOSH!!!” 7:15:21 PM 10/09/02 “Congrats. All the rest of them saw was you butt getting smaller and smaller.” 7:17:50 PM 10/09/02 “It wasn't that cold out..... (only the guys will get that joke)” 7:29:43 PM 10/09/02 “Umm, Tea- my butt doesn't get smaller when it's cold out- If yours does, go straight to the doctor. That three mile time kicks butt, though! Keep up the good work.” 7:42:29 PM 10/09/02 “I was just reading a XC message board and there are guys in my state running 15:50 at the hard coarses. OUCH!! I ran 17:23 at an easy coarse. HOW THE HELL DO THEY GET SO FAST” 7:54:40 PM 10/09/02 “Quit smoking.” 7:58:38 PM 10/09/02 “Awesome time, Tea! Congratulations!” 8:09:39 PM 10/09/02 “i'd like my 2 mile time to be that low.” 8:39:08 PM 10/09/02 “Hey tea, how the ladies treatin' ya?” 8:45:25 PM 10/09/02 “BB didn't you read his post? He was runnin' away from them!! J/K” 8:48:39 PM 10/09/02 “Great job Tea!” 9:33:43 PM 10/09/02 “Budda, they love me. I have a fan club.” 6:29:48 AM 10/10/02 “Great job, man! Keep running! What year are you in school?” 7:18:24 AM 10/10/02 “Congrats! What kinda weekly mileage are you logging right now?” 7:50:37 AM 10/10/02 “Keep it up T! Work on your English scores and come out to Montana Maybe we can find you some scholarship money.” 8:11:50 AM 10/10/02 “When I was on the cross country team back in high school my best time in the 2.5 miles was 12:05 I came in 10th in the city meet. I think our best runner won at 10:40 or abouts.” 8:27:23 AM 10/10/02 “Great work, punk!” 10:03:35 AM 10/10/02 “Way to go, dude, you just tied my PR (set back in '88 at age 25.5). How do you get faster? Run with people who are faster than you. Seriously, I went from a 9:00/mile jogger to clocking a 4:42 mile and 2:06 800 within 2 years by chasing a lot of fast guys in my workouts. Keep up the reports, too - I've been injured for almost a year now, and I'm going nuts!” 10:06:28 AM 10/10/02 “Tea, does your coach give you a good mixture of speed workouts and slower, longer distance workouts?” 11:53:48 AM 10/10/02 “By the way...I ran with my daughter on Sunday--my second run in a year--and we are less than 10 minutes behind you! (26:52) She's gunning for the 8th grade school record in the mile next spring. If she wants to, she will break it.” 12:01:29 PM 10/10/02 “Speed workouts are a #&%!$, I never did like them. 440's at around 70 seconds apart sucks. Team 1 goes, Team 2 waits, goes when Team 1 arrives, 5 miles of this will kill you. Once did 7.5 miles in 49:30 or so, killed the #&%!$ out of me. You got to be a little crazy running cross country or more. Have fun.” 12:16:15 PM 10/10/02 “Alright, I really didn't know we had many runners here. So lets see some PRs, 10K, 5K, any marathoners, stories. Threads like this make me miss my XC years bad.” 12:18:43 PM 10/10/02 PR's “OK, here ya' go.... Trailhound, it's not too late to run XC. I'm almost 41, and, if I weren't injured I'd be out there every Saturday - we have a great XC series (for grownups) every fall in the Bay Area. Also, the XC nationals are in Rocklin (near Sacramento) this December.” 12:37:50 PM 10/10/02 “Marty that's quite the PR report; most coming later in life! Good job!” 1:26:07 PM 10/10/02 “Thanks, aero. It is a little weird to have set all those PRs almost 10 years after high school - usually only true for really really good runners. But I was so terrible in HS that the only direction my times could go was down! It also helps to be more mature and smarter about training. Until my sprained ankle last November, I was getting ready to take a legitimate run at the 10k PR. Maybe once I get healthy again I can give it a try. Say, how's the team doing??” 2:33:28 PM 10/10/02 “ ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 3:01:00 PM 10/10/02 “My coach mixes it all up from doing LSD to fast work outs. I love LSD. Today we did a track/fast work out. LSD= Long Slow Distance, but as time goes on it is becoming Long Semi-fast Distance.” 4:53:23 PM 10/10/02 “Just reading this thread makes my knees ache!!” 5:24:19 PM 10/10/02 “My ast coach is Mike Mykytolk the national ten mile champion. After the team is finnished practice he goes and runs his practice. Some times I join him and stuggle like all hell to keep up. This guy is FAST! He is training now for the NYC marathon.” 7:38:39 PM 10/10/02 Mykytok “One fast dude. Also, an interesting story, as he reported that he had a heart attack during the '98 NYC marathon. My guess is that he knows what he's doing - keep listening to him.... His wife Laura is also a very good runner.” 10:34:30 AM 10/11/02 “Yeah, Mykytok is one crazy coach. Every saturday meet during the spring track season we would get a new story of Mykytok's college days. Oh' they are funny, and there are so many of them. Every now and then Coach wears a "26. can't stop me" shirt the day after he had the heart attack (I'm not sure what the tenths are). His running buddy from Florida put out a book about there college days. I read it but I forget its name, I think it was "PAIN" Martyb I'm not sure if he is married. I know he has a woman, but I don't think they are married.” 6:47:12 PM 10/11/02 Laura Mykytok 10:52:07 AM 10/14/02
