You might want to reserve judgement!

I just scanned some old photos from your area. Do you live there?

Friend of mine had a cabin in Wilsonia.

Welcome
Greetings from the Bluetick Tower on the North Hills (Pa.) campus of Mad Dog University, housing the Department of Geology and Road Gravel (Prof. Dal Mashin) and the Department of English and PR Flak (Prof. Eudora Shelty).

The Department of Law and Insurance Settlements (Prof. Johnny Cocker) is located at the Charlottesville (Va.) campus.

Do not expect sanity or nicety. We frown on such nonsense.

Do not, ever, even remotely think of answering Violin's questions. Do not ask why; just do as I say.

Like Mom said, it's for your own good!

And, skibum, don't take crappola from these flatlanders and easterners. The only real mountains, canyons, and deserts they have ever seen is in "Backpacking" magazines....wussies...all of em...except Maple Leaf...she's got cajones. She eats bananas in front of "high-steelers" in the middle of Manhatten.

but don't confuse Mapple Leaf with mapleleaf or maple leaf or Maple leaf or Maple leaf. None of them have cajones.

Welcome Skibum...
Greetings from Central California! Gonna have to get down your way, if I can pry myself from Yosemite!

I keep looking at my snowshoes sitting there in the garage...

Howdy Skibum! I'm in Porterville just a little south of the Southern entrance to Sequoia.

We're planning a Sierrapalooza for 2003...so far it sounds like it will be right in your backyard. (probably starting from Mineral King.)

Wilsonia Lodge
Skibum, is it true the Wilsonia Lodge is now gone? The cabin we used was just above it.

Yes, The lodges NPS lease expired and they were unable to renew the lease. The lodge was torn down around 6-7 years ago. Cabins are all still there though.

I gotta look at my maps of California. Went from Fresno to.. hmm, was it Grant's Grove? That's one area of Sequoias, right? We thought to driving the long, dead end into King's Canyon, but didn't. Ended up overnighting in Visalia instead. it was yukky! lol

Hey, one of my best friends got married in Visalia, the one with the cabin. I believe Grants Grove is part of Kings Canyon, but very close to Sequoia NP.

We car camp at Grant Grove every year... my whole family loves that area. But Sunset and Crystal Springs have been closed for two years now so we camped at Cedar Grove this year.

Is Jerry still at the Grant Grove Post Office? Our kids are about the same ages...so we got invited on several occasions to bbq lunch at their house in Wilsonia so the kids could play together etc.
those were some good times!

Hi Wind Walker,

Yes, Jerry's still the postmaster. Can't wait for this logging operation gets done and they get Sunset and Crystal back open. Crystal is going to have to be totally rebuilt. The loggers have pretty much destroyed it. Azalea is still. The hwy is just about finished. That will be good. Let me know when your in the area.
