I was just continuing the old joke about how newbies on trips are harvested for their organs...you know, the old "kidneys" thing...

Ummmm....Binkley?
Yes, I have the bag...BUT, the reason it didn't get put into Evergreen's car was because there were two, and I counted them TWO snakes in the bag and I WAS NOT picking it up! Just kiddin...send me your address in an email and I will ship it to you ASAP. Sorry for overlooking it.

I'm relieved...
...to hear that Island Girl provided some cheese curds! Takes away some of my shame and guilt for not being able to come on the trip and bring curds myself.

Sure enjoyed seeing the MM gang, if only in damanvid's pics (walkindude was in his fair share of them, hmmm... I know, I know, he was the ostensible guest of honor). The pics of the pine in the river brought back great memories of my time living and fishing in Northern LP.

Here in Northern Wisconsin, it was cold rain starting late Friday night and continuing all day Saturday...stopping about the time it began at the Jordan River. I was thinking of you all...glad the tarp time was jolly. Still hope to hook up with the MMers again.

I'm finally able to get online. YIPPEEEEEE

bbinkley - the report was awesome. Thanks!

I think it was bbinkley that said that it wasn't the place (although it's awesome there) but the company that made this trip so fantastic. I was amazed, yet again, at how many wonderful people there are on this board. I haven't met a single one that I wouldn't be honored to hike with again.

We all hiked our own hike. Some carried 20 lbs, some 70 ;-). Some walked fast, some slow. Everyone goes to sleep at different times and wakes up at different times. Yet, throughout the weekend and amidst all these differences, not one bit of conflict or hostility. I absolutely love it.

Ya'll are some of the most laid back, kind people I've ever had the pleasure to know.

P.S. Blummer said he'd love to hike w/ us again. Hopefully, he'll start posting one of these days.

P.S.S. I talked to Mamabull today and apparently Papabull hasn't stopped talking about what a great time he had. Jer/Buddha - no worries... he still likes the both of ya!!

Buddha - good to see you posting. I was a bit worried about you and your tire bubble. Hope the ride went smoothly.

Jer - pls let us know when you get home safely. Hope your enjoying your time in the ring finger and pinky of Michigan. LOL

Thanks Coyote..Your a cool one too..

the blisters werent the major problem..wish it was that simple..I have a problem with my left foot..the heel constantly is in pain..worse pain when I get up in the morn..then my toes bones go to hurting..but I think a pair of Superfeet insoles and some real good boots will cure it..

Sounds to me like you have a heel spur..... I've had those before. What you should try looking for are shoes that don't have your heel touching the ground. There is a company that makes them: Avia. I know that a store here called Oshman's carries them. They're wonderful. The heel (of the shoe) itself is made so that it cups it on the inside, and only allows the outter edges of your heel on the outside to touch the ground. Thus: your heel is protected from the pressure of walking.

I had the unfortunate experience of having spurs in both feet. It took a long time (and telling the doctor "no more cortazone shots!), for my feet to get to the point of healing. Honestly, the shots do nothing for you. They don't dissolve the spur, nor do they help in the healing process. Keeping the pressure off of it, does. I remember waking up each morning, barely able to walk. It hurt just to move my legs down, sometimes.

Try getting to a foot doc to make sure that that's the problem. If it is, and it's caught in time, you could be "cured" in as little as 6 months, with the right shoes.

Email me and let me know how things go..... I'd like to know!

And good luck with everything!

I'm jealous!

Maybe next year we can put together a hike along the 200-foot bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan, or Isle Royale or someplace. Michigan in the fall sounds like my kinda place. "When the gales of November (or October) blow early."

You ain't seen nothing yet! The colors are just getting ready here! The best time to see it all, is usually just after the 3rd week of October.... just before Halloween.

It don't get any better than this!

Evergreen - it was a pleasure meeting you and CMB. I certainly don't have the same foot pains that you have, but mine still ache today. I hate to spend $$ on new boots, but I think that's what's going to have to happen. I ended up with some crazy blisters under my 2nd toes, sore shins, and a sore achilles tendon. I had no idea why you didn't hike on Sunday - I never heard a complaint out of you! :) Take care of those feet!
