We need to have us a tent revival meeting with Brother Love's Travelin Salvation Show and handlin of the snakes is what we need.

I want to tell you, Jaysus sayid, "Be healed Brother and Sister!" Yes, that's what Jaysus sayid.

So come unto the Lorid and handle the serpent, just like Sister Skullcap done. Sister Skullcap got the faith!

I sliced my knee down to the kneecap while doing land navigation on the island of Oahu...ran into old WWII constatina wire...is that how you spell that? Fencing with razor blades...had to get lots of stitches but was back onto the navigation site in two hours.

She's still day-to-day.

Oh, sorry. Yah I bet that hurt like hell. Did you get a tetanus booster too?
bitpusher

Bit? I get a dam tetanus shot every year because I am always doing something to myself...this year, I stabbed my hand while trying to change my watch band. Last year, I ran a needle up under my fingernail trying to get a splinter out...it goes on and on, but I am all in one piece and just finish what I was doing before the stupident after I am bandaged.

I usually manage once a year to cut myself pretty good with a cooking knife. On the left hand, typically, because I'm right-handed. And I almost always get a little bit of damage on each trip. Started wearing the high style of gaiters so my legs wouldn't get scratched up so bad.

Gosh, there are lot more folks on the injured reserve than I thought. And Sarabelle too. I'm in good company.

If I'd only broken my arm instead of my leg I would be eligible to pitch for the Phillies. Then again, I was a catcher and Lieberthal blew out his knee again. Guess it's all right with the world.

I knew the Phillies were bad off but I didn't realize it was that bad...

Every year there are at least three pitchers who start the season off on the DL with arm trouble and at least one never does play during the season. Usually it's the free agent signed over the off season who was supposed to win 20 games and strike out leventy-twelve batters every game.

The catchers are usually out for knee surgery (Daulton, Lieby).

Oh yeah, the Phils' DL is usually better than some healthy teams.

I was drafted directly onto the list when I got here... I just didn't know there was a list!

I've been on the DL (for running, anyway) since 11/3/01, when I sprained my ankle in a cross-country race. Once it healed I developed a mysterious hip problem that 6 doctors were never able to diagnose (and hence, could not treat, either). I currently haven't run a step in almost 4 months. I have been able to hike, but I am in such poor condition it has been a lot harder to cover the miles.

Well I spent today at work and both my legs hurt, so I guess I'll take my dog and pony show home and work from there tomorrow. The road back is long and hard. But at least I'm started now. Two more weeks til the cast comes off. Skeery in a way. Like losing the training wheels.

Sorry 'bout the Rodent Reference, G!

The first thing I did, after the larger-than-softball swelling finally went down was to get a pair of boots with hellacious ankle support: La Sportiva TRKs. They made for great 'training wheels,' but before too long I had to do my neighborhood walks in tennis shoes to work the ankle more.

I'm sure that if I had gotten some Physical Therapy my recuperation would've been lots quicker, but what the heck. It's no use b!tching about that now!

Concertina, AKA button accordian... popular with drunken sailors for playing various hornpipes, reels and, ah... slip-jigs.

The boots sound like a good idea - more support. Cool. I have a pair of lightweight Timberlands that should be just right. At least for work. I'll use my New Balance shoes for walking exercise.

I am supposed to get PT as well. I will take them up on it for at least awhile.

Drunken sailors? Isn't that redundant?
Geobeet

10/14/02

Now that you mention it....

And Do take advantage of the PT. I hear they have some nifty tricks that can cut the recovery time substantially, And retain more flexibility in the joint.

From my trip report to Mt Ritter, Labor Day weekend:

"At the waterfall SnowDude flew down a 15' ledge, head first but bounced off the rock on his leg before landing in a pile of grass above another ledge. His hamstring looks tie-dyed in red, purple and green on his lily-white skin. We all kept saying "that was the most radical fall I've ever seen!". Unbelievable!"

He recovered from that, took over 3 wks for the bruise to quit moving and go away.

This weekend, he used his knees while rock climbing. He left a piece of skin from his finger and blood on the rocks. Picture will be on this weeks trip report. Will be uploading in the next hour or so.

Do pulled muscles count? I have had more pulled leg and chest muscles in the past 6 months, than I ever have in my entire LIFE! LOL! But the best part about them all:

I was HIKING when I did it!

Buddha is off. Congrats. I still have a few weeks to go, maybe even months. Just walking normally is an abstract notion. Running isn't even a dream.
