Hey, that's funny! When they did the diagnostic surgery a couple of years ago they did take pictures. And they took great glee in showing them to me, offered to let me keep some of them. That's just what I need hanging on my walls, pictures of my diseased guts.

No, I think you don't really want to see pictures. You only think you do. Trust me on this one.

When I had my gall bladder out a few years ago, I woke up in the recovery room with a vile full of gorgeous jade green gallstones. Aside from my children, they were the most beautiful things I had ever made. In fact, I stringed them and made them into dangling earrings. lol

No, actually the nurses in the hospital were happy to inform me that they refer to my surgeon as The Keyhole Surgeon. It will be a pretty small scar, about 4 inches. That ain't bad!

I have pics of my wife's insides from when she had her gallbladder out. She kept having attacks, then refusing to have anything done about it. Finally, she had a very bad one, I took her to the doctor, who immediately called the hospital to get her in a for an emergency cholesysectomy. I saved the pictures (of a large gallstone blocking the duct leading from the gall bladder to the biliary duct) as a reminder that she needs to do what the doc says.

skully, Crohn's?

Hey this is kind of fun!

Hint: There was very serious intestinal involvement but the source of the problem was not in the GI tract.

ew, I'm glad it wasn't Crohnns. I've had a very bad experience cleaning up after someone w/ crohnns disease.

All I can say is that if one is an adult, they really should clean up their own bodily fluids and wastes, even if there is a custodian coming in in a few hours. =(

Bingo! And Bitpusher gets the prize!

For more info.

My doctor has been doing research on this for decades and this was one of the worst cases he has ever seen. Lucky me!

My wife also had a mild case of endometriosis. Made her very #&%!$y two weeks out of every month. I had to make her go to the doctor for that, too. After the operation, it was like getting my old wife back.
bitpusher

Yeah, mine will re-occur in 3-4 years. I am soooooooooo looking forward to that. Not!
skullcap
8:48:41 AM
5/14/03

I keep expecting hers to re-occur. I made her go back to the doc last year to get checked out, and he said she was fine, at least in that aspect. She still gets these awful abdominal cramps, mostly from overdoing physical labor (working in the yard, stuff like that), but she has some serious muscle relaxers that she can take to relieve those.
bitpusher

5/14/03

Weird. My doc says I should be as good as new, excluding the scar tissue. There was some that couldn't be removed. Maybe that's what's causing her pain, scar tissue?
skullcap
9:04:27 AM
5/14/03

Maybe, but I don't think hers was nearly as bad. I think she just overdoes it and the cramps are part of the price she pays.

A friend of mine had a hysterectomy and her doctor gave her polaroids of her uterus after he had removed it. She brought them to work to show me, cause she thought I'd appreciate them. Stitches and Guts are always interesting! =D

Although recently I was grossed out at lunchtime by a friend telling a story she'd already told me about an infection she got after surgery - complete with pulling up her shirt, in the restaurant, to show me the boo-boos AND describe the ooze in minute detail. Infections are GROSS and are NOT Interesting! =D

Well, I had hoped I would be permanently off of this thread, but I'm back on, at least for a couple days. I tweaked my back yesterday morning. Hurts like heck at times, like when I take a breath any deeper than about half lung capacity. Of course, it's allergy season, so every sneeze hurts. "Ah-CHOO! Ouch! Ah-CHOO! Ouch!" Went to the chiro yesterday, so should be fine by tomorrow. But still, here I am.
