I've got a couple blisters the size of quarters on my heels right now. I'm a little slow, but come game day, I'll be in the line up, for sure. So I'm on til the weekend, then it won't hurt any more....” 11:40:47 AM 10/16/02 “Geobeet, what's this I hear about you planning a hike and bailing out on it? (TIC) Something about a broken leg? Man, I feel for you. All the anticipation and planning and wham.... Just wait til next year.” 11:42:56 AM 10/16/02 “Maple is one o' those Wednesday Morning Cripples... she'll be okay by Thursday night, <G>.” 11:57:02 AM 10/16/02 “I pulled a Hamstring playing softball a few weeks ago trying to turn a double into a tripple. I was safe but the last step onto third took me down.Better now but still can't run.” 12:09:05 PM 10/16/02 “yes sir re BOB i will be ready to accept my medal form the Corp on friday!” 12:10:00 PM 10/16/02 “did she say BOB?” 12:25:30 PM 10/16/02 “Earwax, Tilt. You need to check for it.” 12:29:09 PM 10/16/02 THIS SUX! “thats it i'm having my water tested! everyone in my house including me and TT kitty is getting giardia! ARGH!!!!!!!!” 9:22:52 AM 10/18/02 “Not Good At All. Get it tested yesterday. Lyndy, you must've meant EYEWAX, LOL” 10:39:17 AM 10/18/02 “hay should I take out the stiches a couple of days early or do it now?” 10:50:22 AM 10/18/02 “Ifn I was you, which I'm not, I'd wait until after the trip. If it reopens out there you could have some real problems.” 11:35:43 AM 10/18/02 “There was some joker at Backpacker a while back saying you could use Superglue and just GLUE yourself back together.” 11:47:02 AM 10/18/02 “ok ill leave them in thanks” 11:57:23 AM 10/18/02 “did she say BOB?" Tilt 12:25:30 PM 10/16/02 "Earwax, Tilt. You need to check for it." LyndyS 12:29:09 PM 10/16/02 Lyndy, you must've meant EYEWAX, LOL" Tilt 10:39:17 AM 10/18/02 Well Tilt, if you meant "type" then put that, and if you meant "say" then put that! Sheesh. Now I need to fix my brainwax. Later!” 12:04:54 PM 10/18/02 “'Say' was just an expression. I shore didn't read it wif my ears, LOL (i really shouldn't be shootin' my mouth off like that) Ya Know... If I could mix drinks the way I mix metaphors, that'd be a real pistol wouldn't it?” 12:09:57 PM 10/18/02 “Tell ya what pal, after April comes around you can mix and I'll tell you how you're doing! Drinks, that is. I WILL be thirsty.” 12:49:56 PM 10/18/02 spirit “What's your water source? My in-laws have a well. Had to pour bleach into the well because of bacteria and couldn't use the water for a week. Keep us posted.” 12:55:24 PM 10/18/02 “Sounds like this injured reserve list needs a decent physical trainer/EMT so I'm volunteering. The first part of physical therapy and often the most painful adjustment is the margherita madness exercise. Y'all just fall in behind me and I'll show ya how it's done...lolo” 1:02:22 AM 10/19/02 “Sounds like this injured reserve list needs a decent physical trainer/EMT so I'm volunteering. The first part of physical therapy and often the most painful adjustment is the margherita madness exercise. Y'all just fall in behind me and I'll show ya how it's done...lolo” 1:06:23 AM 10/19/02 I Now Consider Myself Disabled “I hurt my knee at work and for the past week it's been killing me. Pain, pressure and lack of movement, I believe, puts me on Injured Reserve List. 8(” 4:36:16 AM 10/19/02 “Sorry Tex, Doc sez no margarita madness exercise for me until April. I look at my Glenfiddich and just weep! Oh well, by April I'll have almost 13-year-old scotch! A week and three days til I molt. Then I have to learn to walk again.” 10:19:13 AM 10/19/02 Tilt “Yes, many doctors, emts, etc. use a type of superglue on cuts. I have, and it really does work. Kept a cut on my palm closed better than a bandage ever would have. Healed up with no scar at all.” 11:38:22 AM 10/19/02 “Yes, I've heard about that... but it's a special type --- not your everyday superglue from Home Depot (or is it???).” 12:04:06 PM 10/19/02 “You mean to say they coulda glued my leg back together and I wouldn't have had to wear a *^%^$(! cast for two months?” 5:18:42 PM 10/19/02 I may have to change my name. “It's been about six months without any serious injuries.” 12:32:30 AM 10/20/02 “tilt, i think it's actually pretty close to the same thing. when we were hikin in WY this summer, i cut the dogcrap outta ma thumb & bandaids weren't gonna stop the bleeding so i had brought a tube of superglue for that purpose & it worked pretty well.” 12:39:46 AM 10/20/02 “I've heard ducttape works, too. Some guy was cutting rope on a climbing expedition and whacked his hand instead. He said he didn't have time to do anything else at the moment so he slapped ducttape on it, then forgot about it for two or three weeks. He was taking a shower after he got back to civilization, saw the tape and remembered the cut. He took off the tape and the gash underneath had completely healed. Or so he said... That's right G-Beet! They can put superglue (the runny kind) into a syringe and shoot it directly into the broken bone... but you have to hold it Just Right for about a minute. Congratulation, Broken. Now don't jinx yourself!” 4:49:09 AM 10/20/02 “I am glad to say that I am off the TT Injured Reserve List as of today!! I had the stiches removed and got a clean bill of health from the doctor. But I still have that damn banana still in my finger....” 10:29:07 AM 10/21/02 I still on this list “Went back to the doc Friday for xray. In spite of TWO Lithotripsies (spelling?), I STILL have a kidney stone fragment. Doc said it was the same size as my stent and with the stent removed the fragment should pass on it's on. I was awake for the stent removal (Big Mistake)... I now know how women feel at the docs, up in those stirrups. Very unpleasant. It's now Monday afternoon and the stone sends sharp pains to let me know it's still there. I'm very ready to get this thing OUT OF MY BODY!” 3:59:42 PM 10/21/02 “Spelling looks good to me. Lithotripsy would be singular, ies for plural. Expell the damn thing and get on with life! A week and 16 hours before I molt my shell. I'll still be on the list during rehab though.” 4:05:22 PM 10/21/02 “Good luck, StoveStomper, I hope the stone leaves you very soon and painlessly too, by some miracle.” 5:05:43 PM 10/21/02 “Change your handle to stone stomper for awhile!” 5:47:08 PM 10/21/02 does being tired and sore... “from hiking in the Rockies, put me on the disabled list?” 7:12:18 PM 10/21/02 “Stikmon, nope. But it puts you on the wuss list though. :o)” 7:19:10 PM 10/21/02 Thanks “It's hard to keep a sense of humor about this kidney stone. You guys are helping.” 7:28:17 PM 10/21/02 “Actually I can keep a better sense of humor about a broken leg than a kidney stone, having once had one (a small one at that, which passed on its own). Just remember, urethea passing it or not. If you don't pass it urine pain, but once you pass it you'll feel bladder. Just kidney.” 8:29:23 PM 10/21/02 “ <ARGH>”5:29:19 AM 10/22/02 “Quit making my laugh, those belly laughs hurt.” 7:44:53 AM 10/22/02 I'm Next “After 352 days on IR (depending on how you count it) I have been designated for a rehab assignment. The chiro said I could start running again in a week - so that'll be, uh, 359 days since my ankle sprain. It will have been 274 days since my hip problem first appeared and 131 days since I last ran a step. Also, 122 days since I gave up on MD's to figure out the problem (much less treat it), after 6 of them did no more than shrug their shoulders and admit that they had no idea what the problem was. Film at 11.” 9:48:05 AM 10/22/02 “You go Marty!” 9:53:12 AM 10/22/02 Bad news... “I had some tests done. The results are back: I have a femur(sp?) in my left leg.” 11:02:39 AM 10/22/02 Worse news “You probably have one in your right leg too.” 11:04:41 AM 10/22/02 “LMAO @ Geo and gojo!! :-D” 11:08:32 AM 10/22/02 WADAFU???? “Just got back from a trip to the docs to get blood drawn. They can't do it today because the doc is on vaca and they can't draw blood unless the doc's there. Of course, last Tuesday we discussed my coming on Tuesdays to get blood drawn. I guess they couldn't have told me then the doc would be on vaca. So I have to go tomorrow morning. And it's really strange. A lab tech had been coming to my place without a doc to draw blood, but they need to have the doc at the office when they do it. Plus, it was free when the lab tech came out to my home to draw blood, but I have to pay the copay when I travel to the doc's office to do it. Is Joseph Heller in the House?” 1:09:52 PM 10/22/02 It's an adventure “If anyone wants to see how ignorant people can be, try going shopping on a Saturday with a bad leg and an obvious limp. Now I know why some old farts walk down the street swinging a cane wildly in front of them!” 3:28:09 PM 10/26/02 “That and the dark glasses work for me!” 3:49:35 PM 10/26/02 “I always thought you swung your cane with control. Sooo, I know you must have went to EMS for club day. Whatcha get?” 4:25:05 PM 10/26/02 Geobeet “When my wife was recovering from her bout with MS a couple years ago, she need a cane for a while. When people at work asked why she stopped using the cane, she said she was afraid she was gonna start "whacking" some of them. They all backed off! Sorry you had such a frustrating experience, but find that even though I don't limp, yet, a lot of people on the street are just rude. I'm thinking about buying some football shoulder pads, so when people don't make room for me on the sidewalk they'll at least remember me! ;-}” 5:09:11 PM 10/26/02 “I don't do my Christmas shopping in the malls because I feel like I'm in a hockey game. But there's no ref to give them two minutes for boarding or tripping. I swear people get uglier and uglier as time passes by. Thank God for all the good people who went out of their way to be helpful during this period. Not only would I not have been able to cope, but my faith in humans would be entirely shot. And thanks for all the good wishes from all you folks on this board, and the jokes as well. Yes Pennsy, I listed my small take on the EMS Club Day thread. Not much. It came a weekend before I got my back pay. Not very considerate of them. And no, I did not buy a bongo drum like yours! A cold weather bag has to come before that. My old one is not happy with my body.” 5:53:09 PM 10/26/02 “I feel for you Geo, my wife went through the same experience after her hip replacement. Amazing how rude and pushy people can be. I used to run interference for her in crowded places.” 7:58:00 PM 10/26/02 Jump to Page << prev
