“Not much new news from the doctor today. They just referred me to a neorosurgeon for diagnosis and treatment options.

A asked about backpacking because I have a three day trip coming up the first weekend of March. Doctor said I could hike all I wanted, but can't carry any weight. Think I can get everyone else to carry my gear?”

“Leg infection. Taking Biaxin xl for a week, and ordered to keep my leg elevated over the weekend.”

“I'm out of commission for a while.
I had a very painful toothache Thursday. Went to the dentist, he x-rayed. Told me I have an abscessed molar that will require oral surgery. I'm on pain pills and antibiotics. I'm to see a dental specialist next Thursday and figure out what to do then.”

“twigeater- i had a TAH/BSO nov 21 and was out of work about 5 weeks. had no problems and starting my walking back up mid jan. what i didn't count on was the weight sitting on my hips and across my stomach. will go out on some practice hikes before backpacking again. may try for the end of this month.”

“cyndeee I had TVH in October. Took my first backpacking trip the weekend after Christmas. It was fine, but my first night out I slept about 12 hours, LOL.

“Last week My Girlfriend (Susan) and I went to the skating rink. She had the 3 year old Grandkid and was going to try to help him learn to skate. As soon as she put him on the hardwood floor he dropped like a stone and pulled her down too. Her lower back hit the step. OUCH! She took off work on Friday and I canceled myself out of the Sipsey Trip.
Turns out she's got a slight fracture to her lower back. She's got meds and a back brace. She can go to work but can only do very light work.”

“Cottonsocks went to another orthopedic doctor today.

Diagnosis:

(A) Fractured Hip caused by recent (as in Savage Gulf) trauma

(B) Bursitis

(C) Osteoporosis


Prognosis:

(A) Hip fracture healing and should make full recovery; will review in one month

(B) Injections should resolve bursitis; if not, after 4 months, will re-evaluate for surgery

(C) Osteoporosis cannot be fully evaluated until (A) and (B) are resolved and further bone density tests are performed, however, he expects that recovery will occur without surgical intervention.”

She will probably hike again, but not anytime soon.”

“I go in Wednesday for a semi-hemi-lamenectomy on L5-S1.

Be in for less than 24 hours.

Rehab: Nothing but walking, I guess, maybe some pool time too. I'll know more tomorrow.

Now if the L3-4 doesn't bulge any more, I should be good for a while, hopefully.”

Sat down in the chair, nurse put the drip needle in, StoveStomper went bye bye very fast, woke up, It was all over.
Still have a little pain. Hope this thing heals correctly.”

“Good luck with your surgery and hope you heal fast. Oral surgery can be pretty uncomfortable because of pain, eating and mouth care complications. I had oral surgery last fall and it was brutal until it finally healed which was just recently because of other problems.”
