Ouch! The calf of a leg was hurting the past two days. Today it was much better. Then, shortly after noon, it suddenly went bad while I was walking. Almost like a cramp, but different. I can hardly walk, so my trip to GSMNP is off for a little while.

I've had some other leg cramps lately, and so have some of my friends. We are beginning to suspect the water.

I was almost on the list. I had another back episode. But it's gotten 95% better in 2 weeks so I am HAPPY!!! I had such a quick recovery time compared to last year. Woo Hoo!!!

from the library
I'm limping a little better today, but I don't dare try to walk much. Now we're coming into Easter Weekend. I may try to leave on Sunday.

treebaitI've been getting them for years. I did write about them a couple of years ago. But this leg was not like the usual cramps. Those go away after 5-10 minutes and/or with walking. This one has almost prevented me from walking at all.

OK, I hope they pass. I've read about city water causing problems like this because of chlorine levels.

Yes, I did post a plan somewhere.

Will arrive at Cataloochee in the evening on April 13th or 14th. Will be there for a few days to week. Want to warm-up on lower Hazel Creek Trail(reached by a shuttle boat), but I'm running into timing conflicts with mail, medications, end of the month blls and a medical test. And I need to see what developes with my leg. I may switch to Noland Creek Trail and Deep Creek Trail for a while. I will be in GSMNP until mid-June.

June 18-20, Will be in Appleton, Wisconsin.

June 20th, evening. Arrive at Anvil Lake in NE Wisconsin for a few days.

Next will be St. Paul, Minnesota, area for a few days.

Grinnell,Iowa, for a few days.

Arrive home in Melbourne, FL, around July 1st.

That's my best schedule at this moment.

I wish I could join you there for a hike. I have surgery on my throat and sinuses Tuesday, the 13th. Little Bit has surgery in the same hospital and on the same day! I think we are going to surgery at the same time also. Hope they don't get us mixed up!

Don't know yet. It could be 5th disease, which is related to chicken pox. It's the worst on her neck, around and behind her ears. There's no spots on her scalp but she keeps scartching her head.

oh poor thing. chicken pox sucks big time.
I was in the hospital when twignut had them, but i got out just in time for our son to get them.
make sure you both have had them before.
tree had them at 6 months old and i had them at 8 months old. they say if you had them under one year old you can get them again. we were lucky we did not get them.

good luck and invest in oatmeal baths.

treebait - Good luck with it.

I was real happy today with my leg feeling much better. But walking into the library, it suddenly went bad again. The list of parts wearing out is getting longer.

Golden Age my foot! The college even raised the cost for the reunion. I had thought that the 50th and up were free. I think I'll tear up the check that I was going to mail toward the class gift. Their goal was 1 million and they already have more than 1.3 million. They don't need any of my Social Security check.

My surgery
Hey everybody, I'm home! I can't talk much but I can e-mail. The sinus surgery I had today went well. No packing up my nose that I can tell. I will be on a liguid diet for at least a week. But chicken broth and jello taste pretty good right now. I'll change my mind after a few days I',m sure. I saw Tanya (LIttle Bit) in the recovery room as I got ready to go back to my room. She was having a rough time. Be sure to drop her a line when you can. Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers, I was'nt even nervous about it at all. I was totally at peace with it all, and that will undoubtably help with my healing.

Ok, here we go. Last night at the Scout court of honor, Laurel was running around with a pinecone. She tripped, and got several nice slices on her hand from the pinecone. She wouldn't stop messing with them, and they were looking irritated. I bandaged it, she took it right off. So this time, I put an antibacterial bandaid on it and medical taped the bejesus out of her hand. She is some kinda pi$$ed!

Okay, okay, I guess I'm back on this stinking list again. My left knee is bothering me. There's not going to be any backpacking anytime soon. I'm really vexed. Short day hikes are the best I can muster, and if it doesn't clear up soon I will have to head back to the doc's and get it checked out.

Not sure what happened. In March, I took a head on a day hike. Nothing seemed wrong at the time, but ever since the knee has been bothering me.

Sometimes it seems muscular, sometimes like a bone. It could just be arthritis, or catcher's knee catching up to me.

Seems to do better when I rest it, but can't stay off it all the time.

Hoping to get it into shape for a dayhike next weekend. If not, I'll have to bag the hike and see the sights by car.
