“crap. I've been getting in some great fast hiking at 10,000 ft, 8 miles, about 4 time a week. Yesterday my knee starting getting stiff, now its swollen too.”

I start her on Pysical Training this week.

“I have broken my finger again. Ring finger right hand. I broke it just above the joint and tore the flexor and extensor tendons off to one side. Its fat, bruised some and crooked. Doesn't feel too good neither. I gotta get that darn thing well before Rock climbing and camping with Gemini and Roam. I've got about a month til then.

“i tried to make an appt. with the orthopedic dr. and was told that my stupid insurance required a referral so now i gotta call my family dr. first to get one. that'll take forever and then i gotta go and pick it up, they won't mail it.

“Scorch, some insurance providers do it by computer so you don't have to wait.”

“I got my referral the next day. They offered to mail it out or I could pick it up. It picked it up 'cuz the clinic is nearby and I like to walk/hike.”

“What's wrong with your right leg, Scorch? What I've done is made the appointment with the specialist and said I'd get the referral to him asap. Then I called my GP and he sent it by e-mail. It's perhaps backwards, but things get done and everyone's happy.

BTW, the reason I read this post is that I'm now on the list. Friday evening I broke my left ankle - the fibula just above the heel bone. This pretty much puts paid to my autumn backpacking season and I hope I'll be okay for deer season.

I handed in my doctor's note authorising my absence for a month, but I'm at work right now. I think I'd go crazy sitting a home. Driving is a beetch because I have a manual transmission and it's a day's work to bathe, wash my hair and shave, but that's just whining and I'll stop now.”
