“I'm very glad it's stopping. I'd hate like hell to have to cram an ice cube up my nose to stop the bleeding that way. I wish I'd picked up some of that emergency snort-a-clot stuff that stops nosebleeds quickly.

Just so you know, that's not the way the vessels in the nose are supposed to work (no matter how many times you blow your schnoz) and cauterization is a simple outpatient proceedure. Hope the bleeding's stopped by now.”

“Oh yeah, the bleeding lasted a little under an hour. I rarely get this, maybe once every couple of years. This was the worst it's ever been though. It's always on the left side, too. My biggest concern is that my sense of smell is more than halved right now, but so far I blame that on the cold.

The descriptions over on the "bloody gory" thread were a little more detailed. I tried to move it over there after grossing out Stovestomper.

“A few years ago I had to get Sinus Surgery to remove polyps and damage in the upper and mid sinus cavities....after the surgery you had to rinse the nose three or four times a day to keep the area moist...it was like drowning yourself.

I ended up going to the steam room for a half hour or more before I went to the doctor. So the doctor reaches in with this set of forceps and grabs something like the tracer in "TOTAL RECALL" and pulls it out....”

“Sorry, no baking cookies right now. There was supposed to be showing this morning between 10:30 and 11:30, now it's pushed back to between 12 and 2 and there's bupkuss I can do about it. I also found out through someone OTHER than my agent that the open house was moved from the usual 12 til 2 sunday slot to saturday, from 11am to 1 pm. So nice of her to let me know. #&%!$.

I guess I shouldn't say that, but not being imformed of changes in a timely manner really p!$$e$ me off. That, and my sinuses feel like they're going to implode today.

“Went to the Doctor this morning. The leg is healing slowly but he took me out of the walking cast and put me into a splint. Much less cumbersome. However, he said "no hiking" for at least another month. Stay on pavement or sidewalk and don't over do it.

I guess that means a hike to Laurel Falls might be in order....that trail is paved...and you sure as hell can't call that hiking.”
