Well, now I have done it too. I was snowshoeing at Badger Pass on Saturday(without the snow shoes---long story) and I fell. I was all the way out by the cut-off for Dewey Point. Had to hike almost 3 miles back to the car. I finally went to the doctor yesterday and dang if my ankle isn't broken. I have one of those really painful walking casts until the swelling goes down - then a real one. This sucks cuz I was going backpacking next month!

Okay I feel stupid. I'll write what I sent to HPM, but edited for content.

Ironing your finger is one thing, but ironing the band aid over a cut EFFING HURTS!!! You've not only super heated a piece of plastic over your skin, that's now stuck better than before, but you ironed a wound. I'm glad Laurel wasn't home for that one.

Funny thing is it doesn't hurt at all now. Probably has something to do with tying an ice cube to my fingertip for the last 20 minutes.

Yes, I pulled the band aid off. That's how I know how well remelted band aid adhesive works. It's like pulling duct tape off of a blister.

I am afraid I may be joining the IRL for the first time :-(

Looks like a rotator cuff injury. Didn't go for an x-ray or MRI but the physical therapist is convinced. Looking forward to many weeks of therapy in hopes of avoiding surgery. Guess nonconformist will have to give me nightly massages and do all the shoveling for a while... bummer, eh?

Hey, Tara...looks like we'e both in the same boat, well kinda. PT told me she "didn't" think it was the rotator cuff, but I bruised my shoulder pretty bad. New Years Day, skiing. Took a hard fall and haven't been able to ski, since :(

PT said if my range of motion doesn't improve in the next week, I may be going in for an MRI. I'm bumming hard, new skis this year and have only gone 2X. UK is going tomorrow without me..... :=(, can't say as I blame him....

Could not put any weight on one foot today. To do so hurt too much. I used my crutches to get around and only went out twice, once with the trash and once to pick up a prescription refill and to visit in the Golden Cue for a few minutes late in the afternoon.

While standing too close to a couple, who actually should not have been doing a technique so close to me, I was hit on the top of a foot with an elbow or a heel. It did not bother me at the time and how could I get mad at such a beautiful girl? I continued practicing a technique on a group of classmates, one person at a time. I managed to get home without noticing anything new being wrong.

How 'bout you, sandyann? I hope you're doing much better.

Nowslimmer - Well, the cast came off and I still look like there is some kind of wooden foot attached to my leg.

3 more weeks with a 'Cam Boot'. One of those big black things that I have to wear for 23 hours a day.

I am supposed to climb Whitney..... =( Hoping PT helps as soon as this thing comes off.

Interesting factoid: Uninjured Leg - Calf muscle 3/4 inch bigger; Uninjured Leg - Ankle 1 inch smaller....Still very swollen.

It's amazing how fast those muscles disappear isn't it Sandyann?! I hope the P.T gets you up and climbing that mountain in time.

Hang tough Sandy!

Look at PT like you do training for the mountains.

I thought the PT was a waste of time at first. I thought, Hell I'll just start walking. I hadn't realized how important it is to work specific muscle groups and in what order. They usually give you a program you can do at home...get into your training mode and you will actually look forward to it.

You'll be on the trail before ya know it.

I have the same mindset that I did when I was training for Rainier - except I have less time and I am completely out of shape now. My plan is to get on my treadmill, wearing this boot, and just walking. At least I am in the safety of my home and there are handrails.

I am sure the doctor wouldn't approve of this right now but I need to work those muscles. I took the boot off last night and stood on my foot without moving. Wow, what a funny sensation that was.

Thanks for all your encouragement...it helps!

I walked 4 miles the morning after my back surgery and got kicked out (graduated) of the 3 month PT program in a month. Does that make me special? Hell yes, but having a goal and being motivated gives you a major edge. Don't forget to rest; that's when the healing takes place:)

Dagnabbit!!

BowlderGal missed a step coming down the stairs after the ballet last night and sprained her ankle. We were at the ER 'till after 1 AM - no fracture - but she will now have to hobble around (including to her new job she starts on Monday!) for a while. We are hoping she is still able to ride in the "Cinderella Ride," a metric century bike ride in a few weeks.

Send healing thoughts, please - STAT!!

Going in tomorrow morning for rotator cuff surgery on the left shoulder.

Had the right done last June, finally blew the left out during a couple epic, bad days around the house.

The good news is I've been through it before and know how to set everything up around the house.

The bad news is I've been through it before and know what to expect, LOL.

The doc did give me the option of staying in the hospital this time. I'm going home after the surgery though...I hate hospitals.

BowlderMan, hows BowlderGal doing? Did she get to do the bike ride?

Thanks to all of you who have inquired about me. My daughter has been requested not to reply to questions without my approval.

Contrary to a troll's post and a copy of my daughter's reply to one-inquiry, I have not been well and I still do not feel good. I am entering a hospital today!

With all the BS, #&%!$, etc. being posted on TT, I decided it no longer merited my reading or posting. It hurts because of all the friends with whom I have enjoyed exchanging remarks as well as trips. I do hope to see many of you on the trail again.
