Well, surgery has finished and I am at home. I feel a lot better this time than 3 years ago after I had the left knee fixed. I am walking all over the place and will soon go outstanding to take the little one for a short walk. I am not going to go through 2 months of PT like last time.

No pain, no gain!

yes I am afraid that i have to report to this thread :(

i fell and twisted my knee while hiking back to the car today.
we had at that point bailed due to the crappy weather (i still think its phantom souls fault)
so my knee is swallon and starting to bruise up.

Sorry to hear that Maple. From my knee to yours, yikes!

I get the bandage off tomorrow (unless it falls off today)

I did a ton of yard work yesterday and felt no pain. I have even been able to bend it more than the left after I had surgery on it 3 years ago. Hopefully no PT for me.

I've been reading lately that docs are changing the RICE advice to MICE - change the R for Rest to M for Motion - move around a bit, don't go jogging or something but just keep moving around to help blood flow through the joint. Increased bloodflow - increased oxygen supply and increased transport of nutrient in and waste out of the cells in the injured area.

Yep, my doc told me to walk as much as possible and to bend the knee as much as the bandage would allow.

well my knees are getting better but not good enough for backpacking. i have arthritis in both knees and will need replacements in about 5 years. i'm getting a second opinion. he did change my medicine from celebrex to rx naprosyn and that did make a slight improvement. i also joined a gym and am working out 5 days a week, i'm hoping to build up the muscles and strengthening the knees. so for now backpacking is probably out but i can still day hike. most trips for me will be of the social nature, trail days and hopefully the elk river canoe trip. i'm not giving up just yet i still have a positive attitude that i will be able to backpack in the future. so keep me in mind if you do any easy trips. oh and i am still loosing weight, down 43 lbs!

Forgot to report back this past Monday. Doc said that the pain I was experiencing in the groin and all along inner part of leg is due to muscle shrinkage and it now having to strech out as I walk. A large bruise is visible along the inner portion of my thigh, this is what clued him in.

I will now need PT as I suspected. Got the call this morning, the fun starts up next Wednesday. Hopefully this will only last a month instead of 2 like the last time.

Sounds like your leg muscle is tearing as you stretch it out. Be careful with it or it can snap like a rubber band and leave you with pain and a bruise ugly enough to make you hurl.

Dang it all, im out for the count for a bit. We were moving a heavy cage from my truck to the new place and I stepped on my heel too hard and it splintered a piece of bone....didnt think to much of it untill it woke me up hurting later on. Anywho, im out for a bit >:( It should be healed in a couple months or less if I heal fast.

stupid MOTHERFES%# %*^*&^#p (*&^3

I have been trying to trap a bad doggie for the past week. He wanted nothing to do with the trap. So I went to pick it up and take it away. but when I was lifting this HUGE dog trap into my truck it slipped and caught me. :(

8 stitches later in my hand and now it hurts big time! my boss was like, "but did you get the trap?"
LOL yes I did while bleeding!
doctor wants me out of work for 10 because of my work. no can do!
but we are still going camping tonight. car camping but darn it it is still outside! going to see a music jam.

the trap that bit me!!!!
(mind you this looks a lot smaller then they really are)

Nothing like metal to tear you up. Consider the character your hand will have now with it's sexy new scar Maple. ;) I've also heard you get to make a wish for every stitch.

Have a great time camping and keep it clean (I mean the cut, of course...everything else can get dirty)!

Khatru was...
bit by a water Moc. His foot is swollen, and the bite looks like a flock of wasps went at the same spot. He's hobbling around on 3 feet, but other than being a big baby, he's doing fine. Got him on Anti-bots, anti inflams and pain meds. He should make a full recovery by 4th of July for the 5 day float on the Current River.

This was bound to happen and I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner with the amount of time we spend on the river.

Let's see, a bobcat and a cottonmouth.

He has two purple hearts now.

I don't know...but I am beginning to think it might be dangerous hiking/floating with you.

;-)

Hope Khatru recovers soon.

I bet Khatru wouldn't change things for a moment. That dog has the life. I'm sure if anyone asked them our two doggys would give half their tails to spend every weekend out playing in the water and chasing bobcats.

Hey Stikmon, did you get that email I sent you last week?
