I'll be there with two of the sixteen year old boys this time.

The ten-day forecast is through Sat Oct 26 so far.
Temperatures should be 50/30 and chance of precipitation is low.

We're going to bust that Canyon Rim Trail again........and not bother the snakes.

Dang Tom, you're gonna use it all up before I can get back there!

I've got some serious exploring to do in that area.

I absolutely MUST find the old Roaring Creek Trail.

It is shown on my topo. You should be able to cut it on the way out to the Canyon Rim Trail. It looks like you could also pick it up by taking the Roaring Plains Trail from the pipeline. Where the RPT reaches the top of the grade and turns sharply right, you could follow the slight hollow left and pick up the trail as it goes down the hollow below the rim.

But you would probably do better by following it up from down below. That looks like one steep climb.

I've been to the end of Roaring Creek Road and the trail begins on some "holler-dweller's" property.

Jonathan Jessup has at least one photo of said trail.......the truth is out there.

The holler dweller is probably friendly enough. I've asked the locals for permission and directions and they have been friendly and cooperative. They usually appreciate your asking.

It was freezing rain when we got up there Friday, then warmed up SAt and Sun. We did the Rohrbaugh Plains, Fisher Spring Run, Rocky Point, Big Stonecoal and Breathed Mountian trails. Killer trip. I'm goin to have to do that Roaring Plains some time.

Priceless
Freezing rain, sleet, snow, wind, hail, lightning, thunder, rain, ... the high country in May and October.

Yea, I wanted to go on up toward Raven Ridge where I was at in Aug but we did'nt make it. Glad I took the sandles to cross Red Creek. Rained all night Sat. and I could not beleive how much it rose. The veiw of Red creek valley from Rohrbauh Plains was spectacular. Great view from Rocky Point also.

I'm hittin' the road early Friday morning.

I'm taking my kid and his pal out of school Friday.

This is our own sort of "religious holiday"......a holy weekend.

Any trip to the Sods/Plains was a religious holiday I thought.

I just tell 'em I'm a druid and it's time to spill blood again. Then I ask around for virgins.

I've finally gotten them conditioned. They'll think anything negative that I tell them!
