“Its a moving violation now, but what you are asking for is to change it to improper equipment or some other "non-moving" violation in return for your pleading guilty to the new charge. Then since no accident and no moving violation you get no point on your license or on your insurance. The DA's office is usually willing to deal for a guilty plea as long as you haven't already got "prayer for judgement", driving school, or cut some other deal in the past 3 years.

I have found it easier to just hire an attorney to get rid of it for you. here where I live there are no shortages of attorneys and teh fee is usually the cost of court plus $85. My last ticket was for "speeding in excess of 45 mph and wrcklessly cutting another vehicle off in traffic". perosnnaly I never heard a statute wriiten like that :). Anyway, I called an attorney, they faxed me a form, I signed it and faxed it back, paid the lawyer over the phone with my cradit card and he went to court got one charge dismissed and the other reduced to improper equipment. or at least I hope he did. The court date was several months ago and I haven't heard from him or the courts. ;)”

“So Hyway, what was the total cost of the attn vs. paying the fines? Granted, sounds like it wasn't on the record, which is another big bonus but just curious. I've never hired a lawyer for traffic court.

I have negotiated with the PD before and gotten community service hourse, which they will almost always let you do instead of paying the fine (I got a running the red a few years back and the fine was $391, so I worked 20 hours instead at a local museum).

DORK, who do you think you are talking to when you go to court, before you stand in front of a judge. Its the ass't DAs. (maybe I should have said DA's office.) I don't kn ow how it is in other states, but in NC the ass't DAs make deals with people who will plead guilty to a lesser charge, but anyone who wants to plead not guilty, guilty with an explanation or to move their case to a later date (who isn't a lawyer registered to do business with the court ) will sit in the court room all day while they deal with all the people pleading guilty. When they are through with all teh easy cases, then they will start putting people in front of a judge to explain themselves. Hopefully you will get your chance before the day ends and they make you come back another day.”

But mainly I didn't want to lose a few hours of work time and a few hours of my evening to this. Plus parking anywhere near the courthouse sucks. For you saving the $125 is worth it. For me, I'd rather just pay a professional to save me the trouble.”

I was in the left turning lane WITH THE BLINKER ON
as i was getting ready to make the left turn, someone coming form the other way speed up to make the green light. i had no choice but to jerk the wheel to the right to avoid getting hit head on.
after he passed me, i continued to make the left turn. it was at that point the poice pulled me over.

judge asked if he had any notes, he said NO and said to dismiss the case.
