I saw it yesterday...
If you enjoy horror this is a must-see.

I know some people have been trashing this film, I suspect because they expected spoon feeding and didn't get it. I don't scare easily and this one scared me... only a few "shock" scares, the rest comes from atmosphere and concept. I wouldn't suggest you take young children...

I haven't watched TV in ages.... but will occasionally go out to see a movie.. just saw The Red Dragon last night..... the book (of course) was better.... but the movie was good too.

Can you tell me what's this one is about? I saw it listed and was wondering if a friend and I would be interested in seeing this.

I know it scared the bejeezus out of my 13 year old daughter. She spent a very long time (for a teenager) hanging out with us when she came home. It was so obvious she was stalling so she wouldn't have to go to her bedroom.

I heard it was GREAT! This movie and Jackass are both on my radar screen.

I enjoyed Red Dragon too... the book is one of my favs of all time... I think a disservice was done to it the way the changed Lecters role though.

As for the Ring.

Rumor has it that after watching a certain videotape the viewer recieves a phone call informing them that they have 1 week to live.

A girl and her friends watch the tape and all die (in different locations) at exactly the same time 1 week later. The girl's aunt is a reporter and is asked to investigate...

that's all I'll say... not action packed, not very gory... just nightmarish and truly scary

OHHHHHHH...... THIS ONE!
I heard about this one! Didn't know that it was called "The Ring"... YES, I want to see it!

I agree with you... Red Dragon was a good movie, however they generalized a lot of it, I guess to save $$ and time. They condensed a good deal of info too. Too bad they didn't have someone playing the grandmother's part. THAT would've been scary within itself! What was cool, was how they linked Silence of the Lambs into this one. "Clarese"... still give me chills when I think of him saying her name! Anthony Hopkins is one HELL of an actor!

Thanks for bringing me up to speed on what The Ring was all about...!

I saw "The New Guy" too! I rented it and watched it twice! I laughed my a$$ off! Nothing new with that movie just another well done teen movie (this one actually has a pretty good message too).

See the Ring, leave your kids at home though, the PG-13 rating is inappropriate in my opinion

Just saw The Ring yesterday.

I guess after all the good things I heard about this flick, I set my expectations too high... cause I wasn't impressed at all. It was was pretty boring. I was never quite into it. And, I thought the actress was pretty bad. Oh well. Went to a matinee, so I didn't pay full price!

I saw this movie recently and it completely creeped me out. I love horror movies. I think the idea of being so scared that you die is in itself, a scary concept. It left a lot of unanswered questions and I think that also brings in an element of fear.

Rosey
did you have your Tin Foil Hat on while watching it?

NO?

what the heck were you thinking?
have you learned anything here on TT?

ok let's go over the rules.

1. when watching anything odd, you must wear your Tin Foil Hat

2. when watching anything that you know will be discussed on TT, you must wear your Tin Foil Hat

3. when you know your going to start a thread that will make Marvin Gardens come out of the woodwork, you must wear your Tin Foil Hat.

4. Just wear it!!

5. any questions?

the best - absolutely best part of the movie - that if I think about it before going to bed at night, scares the crip out of me - is the the part when "you know who" comes out of the "you know what"! I almost peed myself during that part!!!

I must not have understood this movie. Normally I am the one sitting there with a pillow in front of my face, but this movie did not scare me at all. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't scarry.

What did I miss? The morale of the story? Thought I got that!! Hmm!

Explain please!

after watching the american version at the theater, then coming home and going to bed, with the tv and vcr just a couple of feet away, was creepy in the way-extreme. i actually unplugged the tv and vcr. what a wuss!

just one question. does anybody know how the tape made it to the teenage girls's home?

They picked it up off the shelf at the cabin was the impression I got, since that was where the well was...

I saw a movie once where "you know who" came out of "you know what". It was this movie where a lonely housewife orders a pizza, and the pizza boy shows up, then this really cheap music starts playing, then "you know who".....

lyra, remember the opening scene? they were at a house, and at first they were joking around about it, then one of them actually saw it and the other went crazy.
apparently, there was one in the cabin and one at the girls house. did somebody make a copy, and thereby break the curse? and has anybody else watched it? or, since the tape is of otherworldly origin, has more than one spookily generated?

No, no, no. They were at one of the girls' house and she was telling her friend about what she and three other people had done at the cabin the weekend before.

There was a copy made, but that was later in the movie.
