I picked up a REI Sub Kilo +20 down bag on sale.
Have not used it yet (too hot down here). I read some reviews calling it more a 30 degree bag than a 20 degree bag.

Anybody got one? How cold can a "cold" sleeper go in this bag?
I live on the Gulf Coast so 50 degrees is cold to me.

I'm thinking of a winter trip and wondering if I should pack my Moonstone 800 down liner for temps around 20 degrees?

Note: I tarp rather than tent.

Sleeping bags are notoriously rated for lower temps than people can actually tolerate comfortably. Rule of thumb is to add 10 to 15 degrees to what they claim. I add 20.

My bag is 0'
but im getting a fleece liner for my next trip. I like the idea of added warmth.

I'm thinking about sewing a fleece liner. I have a coolmax liner right now, but fleece sure would feel nice!

The fleece doesn't work if you wear a flea collar.

maybe i'll try sticking my fleece bag in my mummy bag - being so short, the extra stuff at the bottom shouldn't be too much of a problem. :)

A Sleeping Bag-Shaped Comforter Or What
Is that Moonstone down liner just one layer or is it like a thin sleeping bag that fits into another sleeping bag.

One layer, either pull it on top of you inside the bag or attach to top of bag.

I thought these overbags were pretty cool as well. MEC makes pretty nice stuff. Not as light as the Moonstone pup tho...
