A.T. Walkingstick featured in Newspaper Article
Hey everyone -

I am trying to update the 2-3 messageboards that have shown interest in my walkingstick project.

I just wanted to tell everyone that some major updates have been made to the website - Pictures of what the walkingstick looks like after it's trek, the hiker that carried it, and a scan of a full page article done on the walkingstick that was in the Gwinnett Daily Post.

This project turned out to be much bigger than I expected - the writer who wrote this article is in contact with the backpacker magazine on another possible article. I have also contacted the A.T. confrence to see if I can get a letter or some other "honorary" recognition that the walkingstick made it. (I did not request a certificate, as I did not make the trek personally and did not want to cheapen the recognition others recieved because they braved the whole trip.)

Check out the webpage:

Thanks,
Saltlick

I think the walkingstick should start posting on its own, really!

Hey that's pretty cool. Really.

My mind is working overtime trying to think of something odd that I can trick people into carrying next year.

you could do an x rated version.

Send BOB along with the women hikers. They cold send postcards describing all of BOB's various adventures and who he had met along the way as he was passed from . . . person to person.

BOB would, of course have to be modified. Batteries are too darn heavy to carry.

In the spirit of "slim", perhaps . . .MOB (Manually Operated . .), or HCB (hand carved . . .(but it doesn't have a nice ring to it)

Its trailname, would, of course, be

are you ready??

WOODY!

Actually....
When I was talking to the hiker that returned my walkingstick - he said to other objects were also travelling like mine.

A big-ass rock that was written on in white paint and sent from springer. Hikers would sneak it in eachother's pack at camp when the other was not looking.

And well, A playboy was also making the rounds on the way up :).

I'll never look at SpongeBOB the same way again.

Congrats, Saltlick. I need to check out the website.
