I was just curious
Does anyone know this man's music? If so, what do you think? If not, I think it is music worth TT'ing with or to. I am interested in knowing if anyone knows of his music.

I have heard of him, but am not familiar with his music. It gets labeled generally as "New Age." That is a rather general appelation though.

He plays harp, does he not? Harp music is good.

I have a hammered dulcimer album by John McCutcheon that features the group Pentangle. I love the instrumentals, but not the vocal songs.

Yes, he plays the electric acousitc harp and he is from Switzerland...does quite a bit with other cultural music from other cultures. I am willing to send tapes to all who are interested....

Sounds great. I'll email you my snail mail address. My musical tastes run from eclectic to strange. My grandson calls it "Grandpa's weird music." Of course, he doesn't realize that what he listens to is even weirder.

this man's music is brilliant
there is one particular album that is far above. It is called "Down to the moon". I have been listening to Andreas for years and find his music to be a surreal soundscape that accompanies me in my waking walks in the wilderness.

To all that have and will experience this music...I say ENJOY!!! It is timeless and ethereal.

I very much agree...for this site, I think he is one of the best introductions of personal music..no one gets the same from listening to him...I have seen him twice in concert and I was mesmerized by him and his VERY minimal musicians...only four. I have been listening to him for 12 years and have yet to tire from any piece he does. I have all of his music so if there is one you would like, I would be much obliged to send you a tape.

I genuinely enjoy all kinds of music, except rap and most hard rock.

I will make it a point to pick up a CD of this guy next time I am at the music racks.

Thanks for the tip!

I do remember them! They were excellent! Don't have a turntable anymore, though, and haven't looked into their CD's as of yet but thanks for reminding me!

I do have a Tangerine Dream, but a 33 1/3 record. I never quite got into it.

I do have a lot of electronic music. David Arkenstone does some powerful theme albums.

I also like Baaba Maal, a Senagalese singer. Got to finally see him in concert last winter. It was a great night. His latest album features accoustic Senegalese instruments.

I am not familiar with them Geobeet..but have noted them...I like LadySmith Black Mambazo too...very talented...they did work on Broadway Play Lion King. Also are featured on Vollenwieder's music.

I too, have listened to Andreas. His music has this way of conjouring up images in your mind, as you listen to the different instruments he and his band memebers play.

I have a particular piece that I love, that has a drumming part in it that makes me think of dancing women.... dancing around a campfire late at night in celebration of a wonderful harvest. It has such a powerful beat, and it always makes me smile as I tap my feet to the rhythm. Wish I could remember the name of it.....

I love listening to his music as I work around my home, ..... but most of all, while I'm relaxing in the tub..... the sounds sooth me.

Hmmm..... getting the feeling that I could use a "dose" of Andreas right now....

Include your return address with the tape or email me your address and I'll make you a Baaba Maal tape from his latest (and best) album, "Missing You."

For a while Andreas was following each CD by taking a riff and adding it to the new CD. I particularly enjoyed "Caverna Magica" and "White Winds". I find his music to be very conducive to imagination.

Well you're welcome, I'm sure. Put the Andreas tape on last night and was just drifting off when the tape ended with a loud clack. I can see I'll have to pick up a CD or two. Put it on repeat and it lasts all night.
