Need your prays please

“I’ll gladly pray for Susie

We had a scare with my Chow, Simba a couple of weeks back. He had a calcified swelling on his front leg. My local vet gave an initial diagnosis of bone cancer. I freaked! I immediately got him an appointment at the UF vet school and we had an oncologist look at him.

The funny thing was that I had recently been dispensing some very Zen-like advice to my daughter about how she shouldn’t worry before things happen. God has a funny way of kicking my self-righteous butt. There I was, totally losing it.

We had a couple of days of deep sadness. I even had his burial plot all picked out in the back yard. But we got a clean bill of health on the cancer while my local vet was still waiting on a second opinion about her diagnosis.

Then we took him to the vet school internal medicine specialist. We ran some tests and determined that it was his arthritis. Then we determined that it was not poly-arthritis, which is really nasty. We’ve been giving him monthly Adequan shots and I give him a daily dose of Cosequin. I watch his diet and weight closely.

Simba is my angel and is an important member of the family. I love him deeply and would second mortgage the house for his treatment. I understand your feelings.

In April we lost our dog of 15.5 years.

Two weeks ago got a puppy--now 10 weeks old.”

spoke to the doc this morning and she is doing much better. she is out of the woods. they are redoing all the tests to make sure she is ok. she ws very very blocked (not pooping will do that to you). the doc said that as long as everything is ok then I can bring her home tonight :)

the rest of the family are going to visit her. i will go later. I have been up for most of the night and need to nap then I will go and see her.

if i feel she is doing much much better after I bring her home then i will try to sneak in a quick kayak trip tomorrow but only if she feels super better.
to much stress in a short period of time sucks :(”

“well i have been in and out of the hospital. as of tonight she is not doing good.
they have her in ICU in gaurding condition. trying to prevent her from going into shock

they think it might be addison disease. but we will not know until tomorrow when the blood test comes back. it is treatable with meds ($$) but what ever it takes.
its just scary not knowing. if it is not that then what?
it is still pretty touch and go. when ever the phone rings my heart stops

My little dog was hit by a car last week. Feeling her fading in my arms was the worst feeling, but we got her to a vet hospital and she is now recovering nicely. The bill was huge. I'm working a lot of extra shifts this week, but most of my paycheck will go to it. It was worth every penny, however, when I came home from work and she jumped on me. (Normally I correct that, but I was just too thrilled to see her doing that well).”

twignut just came back from seeing Susie

she said she was standing up and wagging her tail

I saw her a few hours ago and she was just laying there not moving. so this is a big thing for her.”

“i never delt with this hospital before, but i have to say they are very good
i call very offten, go to see her and they are always very nice and answear all my questions.

i do feel like she is in good hands


now it has nothing to do with the fact that the doc is very young witha pony tail and super goodlooking :)

Funny thing is, my mom (89 next month) has always liked dogs, buthey were always someone else's. And, she never really got real close to one. In my almost 52 years, I have never seen (or thought I'd see) her dote over an animal like this. Does my heart good. The little girl is worth the sacrifices we had to make for her. we are all going today and take some of her fav treats to eat and see if she is interesed. I hope so then she can home on monday. but she looks sooo much better

“I was gonna recommend hand feeding home fried chicken...seems to work for us when one of the pups is avoiding eating. I sat in a vet office one evening and hand fed chicken to one of my pups when she was refusing to eat.”

“we did bring her some treats last night and she ate it. she will be on a strick diet from here on out!”

“dont laugh, but my last dog when she was getting older and fussy at times, I bought some jars of baby food to feed her.I would get the all meat varieties.One time at the checkout with about a dozen jars of all meat varieties of the baby food the clerk looked at them and me and asked if my baby didnt like vegatables.”

“today is the day my sisiter finds out more about the two brain tumors she has that are growing into her brain. They grew 1 cem since Oct. I am sure that when they tell her she needs them removed, she will refuse to have it done.

plus tree is out of work after having spent 7 hours in the ER. something about possibly 4 sliped disc in his back.

oh and yeah twignut spending a few hours in the ER for a bad cat bite eairlier in the day
