TC2 Road Trip

“If everything goes through, this is what i'm doing.

A friend and I (yes, i'm bringing a friend, some of you may know him as jamus, who posed such threads as MOO and deserted island), we're going on a road trip. He doesn't do much, but help out on the farm, though he's searching for a job, and thinking about joining the air force, we both have a couple months free right now.

On November 18, a monday, we're going to head out from my house, and go east, towards Maine. We'll take our time, not in any hurry, we'll visit anything that looks interesting, and stay along the road somewhere. Of course I'll have my backpack with, and we'll stop by and maybe check out a few trails (any good ones that i should check out?) Once in Maine, i'll visit 3 friends that i have going to college out there, and stay with them for a while.

from then 'til tc2 we'll just bum around, find a trail or 2, do some camping, drive until we get sick of it, we're talking about checking out fla, or anything we feel like doing.

by the time tc2 comes around, i'm assuming we'll be tired of living entirely free - if not, we'll continue on for a few weeks, lol, depending on how long our money lasts. Really i'm not planning on spending a lot of money, maybe one hotel room, a museum or attraction, but most money will be on gas and food, though we'll be eating as cheaply as possible, only eating out once in a while.

So if anybody knows of anything that's out there that we have to see, something entirely amazing, we'll check it out. If anybody want's to come say hi, go ahead. and if anybody has advice for road trips, it will be appreciated - i'm assuming it's kind of like backpacking, but i can bring whatever i want without having to worry about weight - only space in my small car.

“this is my first "road trip" and for one thing, i live with my parents and have no expenses, so all the money i do make gets saved up in the bank. I have 2 jobs, one is seasonal, so i have the winter off - and the other, is just flippin burgers, so i can get whenever i want off. My friend, also lives with his parents and has no expenses, though he barely has a job, he still has quite a bit saved up in the bank. i know i should be saving some money for next year, but i want to live now.

The expenses shouldn't be too terrible, unless i end up buying a new car... i'm not sure mine will make it. gas and food, lodging and possibly a new car...

as for mooching - anybody want to put us up for a night? . . . just kidding, i think this is pretty much on our own, though i'd come say hi if ya want ;). but i will get a few nights stay at my friends' in maine, and possibly some relatives/friends i have in va and fla - if we make it that far. wish us luck.”

“I've been driving for 5 days straight and ended up at colby college in Maine. Now I'm killing time on campus, and visiting a few friends until thanksgiving in connecticut. Possibly hitting the end of the AFT hike in PA - if you guys could ever figure out where you're staying and let me in on things - Then it will be down to TC2, and i've already got a few stories if ya all want to listen, See you at TC2.”

“Well, I survived TC2, and am making my way towards the keys, hoping for sunny weather and a great time on the beach. TC2 was great, I've been having a great time travelling around the country, as I sit in the time warner cable office in Lake City, I post from 60 degree weather and rain, shoutouts to stikmon, thanks much. and Hello to everyone I met at TC2, stick around for a full trip report in a few weeks.

Spent the evening at Key West last night, interesting party they have going on there, had a good time. Went snorkling a while longer this morning, saw a lot of cool stuff again, the keys are nice - i'd advise to leave the dog home though, can't go anywhere with him.

Sure, I'll meet up with TT'ers, what would be really great is if we had someone down in the keys i could visit for a while, I think we'll be out of here by tonight, and find a forest campground somewhere.
