and, on a backpacking note...guess what, me and Tarpbabymonkey went to Dolly Sods over the weekend, and i lost a hiking pole! we stopped for a quick break, and when i got back up, i neglected to get it...duuhhh. but we came out the same way we went in, and it was still there! yay. :-)

another disaster was that one of our precious monkeys got soaked in beer because he was in my pack near the trash bag. what a little lush.

also, the trail totally kicked my ass, and i realized i'm a total baby. so what's been going on around this joint? has Violin been banned yet? does bacpac like dogs yet? and did newgirl get to see lots of junky TV over the weekend?”

“you were there too, Tom? i'm reeeaaallly bad at knowing where the heck i am, but this time we did the trail that starts at some picnic tables, and goes to an overlook where you can see the whole valley, and then keeps going down into the valley to the river...and back up the other side. we camped beside the river, and went back out the same way we came...i think the trail was called Something-That-Starts-With-An-R Plains.

but yeah, going down the mountain was REALLY steep, and my pack started seeming REALLY heavy, and i'm REALLY afraid of heights. eeeeek!

oh yeah, we brought a couple of our monkeys along, we have 9 of them. but if you ever see them, don't expect them to talk to you...they pretend like they're toys for everyone but us. the poor little baby got sloshed with a left-over dribble of Guinness.

That is just up the road from where FS 70 meets FS 19.

We went in Friday afternoon and basecamped a little ways in from the pipeline....(see Jonathan Jessup's Photo Page[easy to find]and look for Canyons Rim Trail stuff)

On Saturday we hiked along the Canyon Rim and played on the rocks.
It was windy and cold out on them rocks!
We could see where Roaring Creek and Long Run meet about 2,000 feet below.

So, that rat hiked your arse off, huh?
