When all else fails, do what the doc said
It's soaking in warm water like ya said, Doc!

Won't be out on the trail too soon Tom. I'm having more pain issues today than the entire two months put together. That should ease off in a couple of days I suspect. By the weekend I will see how it feels and possibly try to get out somewhere, even for a short day hike. But if it still feels as sore as it does today, that will not happen.

But I am finally at the rehab stage, the cast is gone, and each day will bring progress.

BTW, we are getting sleet here. Glenside, Pa., just outside Philadelphia) Anybody else? And where?

Took some wash down to the laundry room and when I stepped out on the porch I thought it sounded like sleet, but I thought it was too warm for sleet. Apparently not. We should get first frost by the end of the week, so I'll have to recruit neighbors to help bring my plants inside.

I've got blood in my alcohol system!
Can't have scotch until late March. It would interfere with the rat poison. We can't have that! The choices we have to make: no scotch, live; scotch, die. It was a tough one! We're talking less than five months now, not that anybody's counting.

Think I'll take the Doc's other advice and put this foot up in the air. It's a crazy kind of progress: the pain starts after the cast comes off. But the pain means things are coming along, and it won't last too long I suspect.

There's a Flutters game on the tube tonight, and I really do like da new coach our organeyezation hired, eh?

Geo - We got a bit of white stuff on the ground in Easton.

Glad to hear you got rid of the cast. If Must Hike won't haul you around in the wheelbarrow, I just finished this project tonight.

Pennsy's gear (or Geo) sled

If we get enough snow, I'll haul you around and you can play with the tom tom. ;o)

Take it slow and easy Geo...if you push too hard, set backs occur that will really piss you off. The calf muscle will probably needs lots of time and patience. I tried to rush back into hiking and running too soon..three months after the surgery. I had to back off for another three months, because the soft tissue on my heal just didn't want to do what I wanted it to. Patience, my man, and don't push it too hard too soon. God luck.

We had some snow too. The kids were SOOOOoooooo excited. I need new snowboots for my daughter who now has adult sized feet. Any suggestions that aren't too expensive since she isn't done growing yet?

LOL@Pennsy. What are you really going to do with it? Haul gear?

Mountainmaster, yes, nature is already telling me something's wrong. I had virtually no pain with this thing until they took the cast off yesterday. Since then it has been very painful. I will get into therapy and see how it goes. The good news is that by flexing the leg inside the cast, my calf muscle is still pretty good everything considered. It does not appear to have lost any mass. The pain is mostly in the bottom of the heel and in the ankle. Also, the muscles in the foot are tight.

I will push the envelope, but try not to overdo it. I suspect it will let me know when I overdo it. But it is good to be walking on it and being able to move a tad faster than before.

A lot of girls now wear size 10-11 these days. You would think that the manufacturers would catch on and design some decent looking shoes for them. My teenage nieces generally just wear sandals everywhere, unless they are wearing sneakers.
