Thank you!

I'm so happy with the grade - had to really bust my booty to get it though - if I can get the apartment situation completed by July 1st - I'd like to take the Calculus class during the July summer session - and then I can take the next level cal. during the winter.

Good going Twinks!

I had a little disappointing news last night at class. I got my first essay back on my World Civ class and I got a 0 for a grade. The note on my paper was that it was a great paper, but I didn't cite sources to back up my arguement. I knew that when I turn it in, but I thought I might be able to get away with it. My fault. Good thing that he allows a re-write for a better grade. I'll go back, cite then turn it in with my other essay due next week.

I have to write a 3-5 page paper for my multi-cultural education class. The stupid teacher is more worried about proper formatting and referencing per the APA standards than the content of the paper. I feel like we're losing the lesson here, which is a bad thing to be teaching to a bunch of teachers!

So far I'm doing okay in my Strategic Management. Got a 98 on the first paper and an 85 on a pop test (like a pop quiz but it was worth 100 points)

Cool Twinks...Congratulations!

So I suppose that means an A on the paper as well...he ever going to hand it back???

BTW...I love where I'm living for this internship....it has to be the greatest place in all of the Delaware Water Gap! So peacefull....get to ride my mountain bike or hike right out the front door....

It definitely is awesome living in a National Park....

Sorry, just needed to say how excited I am...

Congratulations Twinks on an A. Geology is a tough course. I got an A in both Chemistry and Anatomy Physiology II, and am working on a B in a five week killer Microbiology course. But the best thing is I got into the coveted Nursing I clinical for the fall. Was very competitive due to all the people trying to get into the program. So after enjoying learning about antibiotic resistant microbes that are everywhere, in the fall I can go to the hospital and learn how to help people heal up.

I saw a show on Animal Planet about parasites on Sunday night. All I can say is filter your water, boil it and treat it. Wash your hands before eating out in the woods. Don't go to the tropics and get bit by mosquitos. Yucky stuff out there. There was even a guy peeing in a river and a long tiny fish swam into his stream and up into his extension! Whoa, I don't think he'll ever do that again.

And hydrogen peroxide works to kill germs better than most other choices. Unfortunately you can use it on your skin only a limited amount because too much use is damaging.

Got my latest grade - another A! I hate to be naive, but this grad school thing is a lot easier than my undergrad engineering program. Show up, do a little studying at home, and that's about it. Although, I'm only taking one class at a time right now, two might be a bit more challenging this fall.

My second class this sememster sounds like it'll be self-directed. We had one class already (only a 6-week course, one day a week) and he let us go early, and we didn't have class the 2nd week. He say's he'll never keep us more than an hour and a half (supposed to be almost a 4-hour class). Beer may be involved at some point. :)

well...my commute has been knocked down from 2 hours to 30mins and my boss is aware that I'm in school and that when it's slow here he doesn't mind me studying. Besides, how else am I ever going to do it?

the chemistry class is Mondays (6-9:50) and Wednesdays (6:20-9pm), the Calculs class is Tues & Thurs from 6:20 - 7:35, and the Computer class is Saturday 12:30-4:30. I figure I can study after class each night....early Saturday morning and still be able to go out occassionally on Saturday nights.

I don't have any other way of doing it.

I did the whole night school/full time job combo for about three years to finish up grad school.

Good luck Twinks!

so this means your NOT moving to FL?

I've decided to take only one class this fall. I can't see myself going to school 3 nights a week, and still being even a little bit nice to anyone. It also doesn't help that my boyfriend and I will be long-distance again, so weekend will be filled with traveling and hanging out with him. At least he'll be taking classes too, and our quality time can be spent studying. Whoo-hoo.

Yippie! This thread again!

My Poli Sci class is done at teh end of this week. My last two major projects have to be turned in and if that goes well, I don't have ot show up for the final day of class!

It's been real tough summer, but a tough summer beats a good day at work any time!

I hope to have gained a total of 13 credits before the fall semester. Speaking of, I'll be taking Physical Geography, Children's Lit and Myth, Magic and Folk religion. After this summer, this case load is down right easy!

Good luck, y'all.

Bad teacher smiley?

I'm going for geology (environemntal geology concentration). I've been pretty consistant about the idea of going into hydrogeology(I'll find out this semester). I definately want to be involved with wetlands (conservation, preservation, reclamation.....constipation, cajun, addition, sublimation (sorry - Adam Sandler moment)).

Laq - the religion class sounds interesting

Twinks, I had an engineering-based hydrogeo class, and lets just say by that point I should have known I wasn't exactly cut out for engineering. It was a rough semester. (Probably the same semester I had biochemistry too, which sucked horribly).

I'm actually leading the charge at my company right now in terms of wetland work. We'll be doing a few mitigation projects this fall, and its the first jobs we've had like this. It'll be a big learning curve, but I'm so glad we're finally doing the work in-house instead of subbing it out.

It's all coming together.

I got permission from work to take my geo class (only offered this semester - right in the middle of the day)! I'm so psyched! Now I feel like this isn't so impossible to make work.

But...somehow I've ended up with 14.5 credit load! And full-time work!

New schedule:

Geology 1
Hydrogeology
Calculus

Still debating over:
Computer Programming or French

bummed that I had to push off Chemistry for another semester
Twinkle Toes

Twinks, my opinion, that's enough work for one semeseter. Don't pick up anything else! That's a hard 14.5 credits, not a cake walk!

Based on 22 years of experience advising at a 4 year university plus earning two degrees after age 30, I believe if you are working and have a family it is better to have a lighter load and take longer.
Phil
1:45:43 PM
8/03/04

The debate over the CP or French is what ups the total to 14.5 - without one of these classes I'm only at 10.5 credits

I know it's alot but I'd rather knock myself out and get to the master's work already then dilly-dally for more than two years for the post-bac.

But it's cool because even with the work and school schedule - I've designed the semester to get me home by 8:30pm at the latest during the week. Plenty of evening time to study.

Summer is almost over
This has been one hell of a load for me. I could write (NO MORE WRITING!!!) a killer "What I did on my summer vaction" report:

A total of 16 essays written. (two of which are due next week)

5 Multiple choive tests taken.(my last 50 question is tomorrow)

One power point presentation (due in two weeks)

6 in class essays written

8 25 + question taken home tests questions answered (half of which are done)

Estimated 500+ pages of text read.

So far:

Poli Sci - B+/A - (depends on what happens tomorrow)

World Civ - A

Michigan History - B+

Yea Q! You go!

Hope you don't get angry, but I've had significantly less work this summer. One visit to the African American Museum and an essay on that, a few open book on-line quizzes, couple on-line discussions, one "background" essay on handicaps, and tonight I have to finish a take-home midterm essay-format quiz thingy to which he already gave us the answers. I just have to come up with examples to explain the answers. 10 questions. Should be easy!!

good fer ya, SG!

I can't #&%!$ at all. I choose this and I'm dealing with it. My thinking was to knock this stuff outta the way early, then I could enjoy a lighter load from this point forward.

As it stands, if all goes well, I am still on track to get my Assoc. right at two years, which puts me still on track for my Masters in 6, but I might jump back into the work force in the toward my Bacc, because I don't want to price myself outta some jobs haing my masters.

Wholly crap, what a week!

One down, two more to go.

I pulled a B+ in Poli Sci and I'm only a few points away from an A-. My wife thinks that the Prof might grade on a curve, so it still could happen I guess.

The class average for this last project was the lowest out of all of them, 80%. Not good for the make up people, as they have to re-write everything tonight and re-take the test tomorrow. Teh real bad thing is that they highest that they can get on the make-up is only 70%, plus in order to get credit for the class, the student has to get at least a 70% on all porjects, no matter what. That means that I could have pulled all 100%, and if I didn't pull a 70 on the last one, and failed the makeup, I'd be toast, even though I could have enough points for a B.

I'm thinking that I might have just gotten done with the hardest class in the college, run by the hardest Prof, but time will tell.

Good luck to all those taking classes!

Gets dat edUmacation!
