“RL - I don't know. I've taught summer school and night school in TV Production before and my Principal wants me to go back in the classroom part time to teach TV at our school. I don't really like it too much.....I always feel like my zipper is down or something weird like that. He's been bugging me to go back for teaching, but I fear that by the time I get done, I'll have to take a pay cut and be right ack where I'm at right now. Maybe one teacher in the family is enough. good suggestion though, I do like science a lot......”

“I got my acceptance to go to nursing school this fall. They accepted 14 credits from my college degree, so I will have to take only 53 credits, all in biology and nursing. So I will be pretty busy for the next two and a half years.”

I really want to be the kind of nurse that makes a bad illness or injury a little more endurable. I once went to the hospital for a miscarriage, and the nurses were so kind to me, it really helped, since I was an emotional mess at the time.”

“I haven't seen the public service announcements. I have been hearing about all the shortages of nurses though. Since I know lots of people going back to school to become nurses, maybe the shortage will not be as bad as predicted.

The new accountant for our school district was just fired because (we suspect) he wouldn't toe the line of raising a building referendum amount so the superintendent can build a more elaborate office complex. This type of thing is why I want out of accounting. The bosses always expect you to be the front man for their spending excesses and then they want you to take the fall when the s$&t hit the fan.”

I am waiting on my transcript from my most recent college experience, so I can send it to the college I am contemplating attending. (Did you get all that?) Depending on how that transcript evaluation goes, I think I'm mentally prepared to sell my condo, quit my job, and move to the west side of the state.

I registered for my one class this fall. Most of the classes were full. There were only two courses that I could take that didn't require prerequisites (I was able to transfer credits for all the other courses), and for one course the classes were all full. So I register for the one class and the advisor yells at me about why I am only taking one class. Why does is seem that everyone working at the college except the people in my major are nice. Can I really get that unlucky? I just smiled and went on my way, but I wanted to yell back.”

Mutty - I don't know how that would translate into "educational experiance" when going for a job. I've done'doing that right now and I can't compete with the peeps with that piece of paper (although I agree with ya!). I have a two year tech cert that hasn't gottne me close to what they promised me in school. bastards!

I'll have to go back very soon, maybe as soon as the beginning of next year. It's something that I have to do in order to get paid what I should be getting paid. Sucks, I'll have to quit my job just so it doesn't take forever.”

“Mapleleaf, there was an article in my paper about an 18 year old girl who was attacked (yesterday?)by a bear on a trail in Wayawanda State Park in NJ. Apparently the bear was not messing around but wasted no time in chasing down the girl. She elbowed him in the snout, and ran, hid behind a big tree and the bear actually looked around for her and then gave up. She lived close by, ran home and called the police. They are looking for the bear now, and have laid traps out. She supposedly had no food on her and the attack is described as one where the bear was intent on eating her, totally unusual in these parts.”

Start...and don't quit. Several have come back and said that mantra got them through.

“Yah, but what about the poor parents of your first students? They've been paying for tuition for how long?”

“Yes, Phil. I have found out the hard way that it IS worth it!”

“Most schools have a policy that if you don't attend for two consecutive semesters, they are no longer bound by the degree requirements for your major and when you return you find that you've got farther to go than before you took your hiatus. Some colleges offer "matriculation maintenance" which you sign up for as though it were a class if you aren't taking a class in a particular semester. It keeps your degree track intact. Stay in and take as many classes as you can afford and especially look for Saturday classes for lab sciences. Took me 12 years.”
