food without flavor enhancer
Hi everybody, as I´m allergic to flavor enhancer, I can´t eat any of the backpacker´s lunches you can buy e.g. at REI (only the sweet ones do not contain flavor enhancers). As we are going on a 7 days hike on the West Coast Trail next year I´m now looking for recipes I can prepare ahead or food that doesn´t contain flavor enhancers. Can anybody help?? (Hope you understand what I mean because my English isn´t that good...sorry...)

Try This
You can have just about anything you want to eat. No preservatives, or enhancers.

It's only limited by your imagination.

Consider getting a food dehydrator and drying out your own meals. It's cheaper and the meals taste better. Easy to do.

You might be able to get some ideas from the Chef bbinkley food thread.

Flavor enhancer is the stuff put in fast food and other junk type food to aid in right-wing mind control.

I believe that Enertia Foods are natural, no enhancers. Very tasty!

Hummmm I think the idea of buying food that you know of already that you can eat and can take on the trail is going to be your best bet.Or like Artex said make your own meals.

Sierramel's High Country Cooking

Great book for dehydrating and preparing meals ahead that you can eat on the trail. Lots of good info.

Flavor enhancers are MSG and other preservatives that some people have trouble with. My son gets migraines if he has MSG, nitrates, or other such stuff in his food. Aspartame does it to him also.

I prefer to enhance the flavor of my food with my homemade hot sauce. Texas Pete, eat yer heart out!
