I'm an EAGLE SCOUT!!!View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 46 of 46 messages posted.
“I passed my board of review tonight. I allso got pinched by the cops for tairing down a Laughtenburg sign, he made me put it back up. Luckly he didn't see that I had slashed the sign, for I would have gotten a fine, or arrested. Last week for instance, 4 people from the anne summers campainfor doing the same that I was. I just got 50% caught. And before the sign problem, I almost got a ticket for loitering/ to many people in a car. See after scout meetings we tend to pie people in our troop for fun. Well I was in the parking lot with 1 person in the car. Dan N and Dan D left to go get the pies as Peter (over 17 (19) stayed in his SUV with 3 other boys. Peter had to go to take a scout home and left the 3 boys outside to wait for the Dans. I let them into my car. I had the engine off, but the radio on. The cop was in the parkinglot before for breaking up to female lovers inside a car (the windows where foggy), so as the cop pulls away he sees about 5 heads in a 2 door tercel. I he stops, so I get out, along with my friend Tom, who was originaly with me in the car and allso achived Eagle Scout tonight. We mossie on up to the cop and tell him what's going on, lacking the part about a pie, he takes a look inside my car with a flash light and takes note that we are all in Class A BSA attire. Asks us if we are getting ready to go on a camp out and adventualy he leaves. See in NJ a 17 year old driver can only have 1 passenger in the car, any more and the driver gets a ticket. So I was alittle worryed, but to be honest, my advancement chairmen in my Board of Review scared me more. TTYL” 10:39:28 PM 11/01/02 “Congratulations Tea!!!! =D We're all proud of you! (serious)” 10:41:25 PM 11/01/02 “Sound like a pretty low eagle there, judging by your behavior. What, only a scout at the meetings and on projects? There's a lot more to it than that, boy.” 10:46:53 PM 11/01/02 “Yeah, nock that shtuff off. >:(” 10:51:53 PM 11/01/02 “What are you talking about! I am doing work for politicle campaigns. I what I do if for the good of the country. And to be real, what I do that is bad is nothing compaired to other people my age.” 10:56:45 PM 11/01/02 “BTW, I won't be slashing lawn signs any more. I just out my signes directly infront of theirs.” 10:57:20 PM 11/01/02 “Oh man, I think my IQ just dropped 20 points reading this thread. Ped, hurry and post something so I can raise it again. But seriously, good job on making Eagle Scout Ice!” 11:34:21 PM 11/01/02 “Congratulations, Tea!! That is a great accomplishment. When is your Eagle Court of Honor going to be?” 12:07:18 AM 11/02/02 “Ice Tea congrates. But hey you might as well get away with what you can well you can. the one time that you are drinking and get busted they will not take it easy on you. So my asvise is to drink as much as you can while you can. Have a shot on me. Peace out and party on!!!” 1:38:30 AM 11/02/02 A Trouble-Makin Eagle Scout, Eh?....NICE!!! “Great accomplishment!” 4:30:49 AM 11/02/02 “good going Ice Tea!” 5:55:13 AM 11/02/02 “Now get back to finishing those other badges so you can get your palms!!” 5:56:13 AM 11/02/02 “Congrats on becoming Eagle. I have to agree with treebait and sass on the other activities though. Be good always.” 6:01:11 AM 11/02/02 A truly great acomplishment “If you truly made Eagle scout, which I can't really tell by your irreverant behavior, I'd ask you to hold that feat in a higher esteem. This is something that many try for and very few succeed. It truly takes the exceptional person to achieve this status. When you fill out job applications or resumes, you can proudly list this feat, and it will help in job placement and careers. It will be a proud mark on your life, even be listed in your obituary. I started out for this, but soon was discouraged when I realized the commitments required and never attained the status. This is no small feat you have accomplished. Please show respect to all those who have or will achieve what you have, and show some respect for the great thing you have done. Oh yes, congratulations, I think.” 6:15:45 AM 11/02/02 “Congrats, Tea! Like it or not, YOU are now a role model. Do only that which would be funny if it happened to YOU! You WILL influence others!” 6:37:09 AM 11/02/02 “I know an eagle scout that grows some chronic weed. a real go getter he is.” 8:17:10 AM 11/02/02 “oh yeah, good job T” 8:17:47 AM 11/02/02 “Congrats IT. Volunteer to take down signs AFTER the election.” 8:24:15 AM 11/02/02 Congrats!!! Tea. “?. why slash'em when you can drive over them? As much as I hate the sound of that 'loitering' rule, it doesn't seem all that bad. Its for your safety and others. I think within a month, not to long ago, we had several fatal auto accidents that involved over stuffed cars of teenagers. All were speeding. All happen in what used to be considered country. Where now the farms are new neighborhoods and the old roads haven't changed. I kinda wish they had some 'laws' like that around here for our ever increasing youth pop.. Like engine restrictions or something. Some kids just can't handle 'mommy's' V8 SUV. To big and powerful. Now go hack down a tree!!” 8:44:05 AM 11/02/02 “Congrats on achieving Eagle rank. I hate lawn signs period. But I do have to admit, they dress up some lawns. Lawn sign or faded plastic flamingo? Hard to decide! I know, steal 'em both and do the world a real favor! j/k of course.” 8:57:41 AM 11/02/02 “Okay, if you're campaign working you should have stated so. The it's stated it sounds like vandalism. Congratulations, then! Who was on your review board? How long was the review? I've sat on quite a few eagle boards of review now. YOU are doing work for a political campaign? Hm. Ah, heck, I got press-ganged into putting up campaign signs in the 4th grade. You remember, Reagan, Carter, Andersen? Wonder whatever happened to the last guy?” 9:47:12 AM 11/02/02 “Way to go kid!” 10:25:39 AM 11/02/02 “Congrats Ice, that's really cool!” 4:57:57 PM 11/02/02 hey ice “So how do you feel about homosexual scout masters?” 5:00:57 PM 11/02/02 “I have decided never to slash another sign. I belive that you can get away with doing something wrong once, but when you do it twice you get sloppy and get caught. That was the 6th night in a row I redecorated hackensack. Eagle Scouts and Cronik-- It sucks that some people do it, and still become eagle scouts. However when I think of the E Scouts that smoke and compair them to this one scout in my troop who will make eagle because mommy is has a hand in the troop. This scout knows nothing about scouting and has shot up to life from being first class for about 2 years and now he has 21 merit badges lickity split. Many of those badges are fudge, I know it. He has no athletic ability and yet he has Personal Fitness Merit badge. The fact that he is not athletic is not the problem, how ever one of the requirments has the scout design and complete a 3 month plan of exersise. Most scouts use highschool sports however this scout got away with using gym class. GYM CLASS DOES NOT FUFILL THE REQUIRMENT!!! gym meets like 3 times aweek, the requirment wants you to do something for every day for 3 months. Same thing aplies to Personal Managment, where a scout has to make a 3 month budge then do it. How the F**K did he get those to badges in one week. I know he did it in a week because I spoke to him one sat, and by that fri he had them. This scout is afraid to go camping. Every hike and camp out for the last 2 years he has dodge. Now this scout is life now and will fudge his project and will become an eagle. Yes this scout is the worst eagle ever. Luckly in an interview any one who asks him about scouting he will have no experinces to speak of. I would rather have some scout who knows his stuff and has camping/ BP/ experince but smokes marry jane represent the best of the BSA then this little pansy piece of sh*t. I would rather have all eagle scouts not smoke, and still know their stuff but atlest the stoner scouts that I know, arn't afraid of the woods, and have earned every thing ligitamently. --- To Bacpac I was taring down laughtenberge (the prediseor to the Torch Toricelli) signs and putting up Forrester signs. So how do you think I feel about gays in the Scouts? I think not having gay SMs is just protecting the SM. Most likly if an SM is gay, we will never do anything to the boys. Where the problem lies is when a scout doesn't pass a requirment or the SM makes the scout do some #&%!$ work, then the scout makes ill aligations about the SM for molesting him. I believe that national council is just trying to protect the gay comunity and themselves. Thankyour for all your congrats. I asure you the mistif I do is very minor, and I will never slash another sign. I don't want to get arrested. Thats ground for removing eagle. And slashing signs is just wrong.” 5:36:35 PM 11/02/02 “Huh?” 5:41:19 PM 11/02/02 “Congrats, Ice Tea. Now, if we can just teach you how to spell...” 5:42:51 PM 11/02/02 OMG!!! “first congrats on attaining Eagle... Second...I want a refund from all the school taxes I paid in NJ...you spell like crap and its the schools fault. third...your "mistifs" will come back to haunt you when you become older...check out a movie called "flatliners"...what goes around, comes around. fourth...heck...have fun...just don't do it at the expense of others.” 9:55:11 PM 11/02/02 “wow, my spelling/ grammar sucks!!” 10:32:46 PM 11/02/02 “Way to go Tea! I've seen some of the wimpy scouts you have described. Just know that some kids are not athletic and some aren't going to write great papers for Enviro Science! Again Congratulations. Now keep your nose clean! Maybe now the SM will let you be SPL!” 10:36:08 PM 11/02/02 ice tea “Looks like you've seen some "paper eagles" too. We've got a problem with them down here too.” 10:45:19 PM 11/02/02 Congrats Tea! “That's quite an accomplishment that you can truly be proud of. Just try to stay out of jail, K? ; ) .” 9:12:08 AM 11/03/02 “John B. Anderson is still in the game (on a limited basis). I saw him on C-SPAN's morning show less than a year ago, talking about this group. He's one of the few who never sold out.” 12:56:08 PM 11/03/02 “Congrats, Tea.” 1:44:02 PM 11/03/02 “Ice Tea - There are several stopgaps in place to catch people like you described who do not really complete the requirements. I can't envision someone like you described making Eagle in our district these days. A number of people saw this going on in some of the LDS church sponsored troops. Now a person outside the troop scrutinzes all the records (blue cards, dates, etc.) and interviews the Scout and approves the Eagle Project (before and after) in addition to the Scoutmaster approval. Anyone under the age of 15 who is up for Eagle is really grilled about their leadership. One or two boys didn't make Eagle for various reasons and the word got around pretty good. I estimate that the typical Eagle Scout has put in over 1 work-year of activity between the ages of 11 and 18. That includes: 100-150 bag nights, 300+ meetings, 100-200 service hours and hundreds of hours working on rank advancements. The leadership and Eagle project requirements add substantial value to the rank.” 4:48:00 PM 11/03/02 Congrats!!!! “Way to go Tea!!!!! I am very happy for ya! 8)” 6:17:23 PM 11/03/02 “This kid is not a papper eagle, he can't write for sheeet! He fails in school he fails in scouting. I don't understand how he is minipulating every one to get him eagle!!!!” 8:31:18 PM 11/03/02 “"paper eagle" means he met all the written requirements, kiddo. You've heard the phrase "by the letter of the law, not the spirit of the law?" That's what I mean.” 11:05:06 PM 11/03/02 “very happy to hear you made Eagle. You do incurr some responsibility to uphold the BSA with that title. It doesn't look good to see "local Eagle scout arrested for vandalism" in the paper. "temptation resisted is the true measure of character"” 7:56:44 AM 11/04/02 “First of all Tea, let me congratulate you on your accomplishment from one Eagle Scout to another. Now let me berate you for interfering with other people’s first amendment right of free political expression. There is no dirty tricks merit badge is there? Do all the campaigning you want for whatever lame candidate you chose but do it within the law or you’ll bring disrespect to your rank.” 12:22:02 PM 11/04/02 “so, whose idea was it to tear down the signs? just curious. and what the heck is up with the no-more-than-1-passenger-in-the-car law?? bizarre.” 12:35:05 PM 11/04/02 “and by the way, if i were your mom, i'd be thanking my lucky stars that "pieing people" and taking down signs is all you're doing.” 12:40:17 PM 11/04/02 “Oh yeah... Where were you last Tuesday night, Tea? Lautenberg said that as he made his way through a group of about 150 demonstrators on his way to the studio for his debate with Forrester, someone punched him in the arm. Sounds like something you would do. You'd better watch it - that old man could beat your scrawny ass. ;)” 1:06:08 PM 11/04/02 “Congrats dude. Our troop is starting to go that way too unfortunatly. We have one kid who's mom is an assistant SM who made life in a year and a half. To stop it, were going to start requiring 5 different people to sign off on requirements and of those 5, none can be realated to the scout. If you really feel like doing something about it, start talking to other leaders. I know there are some that are ticked off at it too. Slowly get the word around the council and then see what happens at the Eagle board.” 1:51:20 PM 11/04/02 “Congratulations Tea !! Our district has a team who review all Eagle Projects, the completed Eagle applications, and have a representative on the Eagle Board of Review.” 3:13:59 PM 11/04/02 “Be prepared! That's the Boy Scout's marching song, Be prepared! As through life you march along. Be prepared to hold your liquor pretty well, Don't write naughty words on walls if you can't spell. Be prepared! To hide that pack of cigarettes, Don't make book if you cannot cover bets. Keep those reefers hidden where you're sure That they will not be found And be careful not to smoke them When the scoutmaster's around For he only will insist that it be shared. Be prepared! Be prepared! That's the Boy Scouts' solemn creed, Be prepared! And be clean in word and deed. Don't solicit for your sister, that's not nice, Unless you get a good percentage of her price. Be prepared! And be careful not to do Your good deeds when there's no one watching you. If you're looking for adventure of a new and different kind, And you come across a Girl Scout who is similarly inclined, Don't be nervous, don't be flustered, don't be scared! Be prepared!
