Kankakee Dayhike info??

“I'd like some input as to a nice place to dayhike in the Kankakee, Illinois area. Our HS football team has a night game up there and I thought I'd try to get a hike it beforehand.”

“There is a pretty long state park along the Kankakee River. I've heard it's more for canoeing, but it might have some hiking. I'm not sure, but the I&M Canal might be close by.

I also seem to remember a joint project with the nature conservancy to protect about 20,000 acres along the border of Illinois and Indiana in that vicinity. It would be plains area, but possibly nice.
