“ive rented Ski-Doo for $20.00 on Lake Erie in Canada. Now that was a blast.
@7:30am there was nobody on the lake and it felt like i had it all to myself.
If you ever get a chance to do it, DO IT

“One of my friends rented a skidoo for a day a few years ago...him and the wife had alot of fun. The problem is when they finished and got home, they can still hear the whining of the motor.

I will probably never rent skidoos, jetskis or ATV's...I don't believe in creating more pollution for the sake of having fun. Just my opinion. Go x-country skiing or snowshoeing. Or as Pathman suggested...dogsledding.”

“dogs put out much less noise and pollution (it biodegradable!) than a snowmobile. They can be extremely quiet in fact. I've had them come up behind me when I am on skis and didn't hear them.”

“The ex got the sleds but I still have my helmet and jacket. I LOOOOVE riding snowmobiles! I'm nervous taking the corners though because that's where the drunk riders lose it and nearly every corner on a trail is blind. I'll bet 50% of riders have had at least one drink (alcohol) in 'em. Rider beware! But damn! It's fun!

Those things can go too fast, though. I don't like going over 65 miles per hour. Have fun and don't feel badly. They have been improving sleds every year and Pathman creates more pollution with his unnecessary trips in his automobile. Just my opinion.

“U R right Sunshine...those skidoos can really go fast. Once I was on a highway going over 100kph (60mph), and some skidoos riding in a field beside the hi-way blew by all the cars like we were standing still...they must've been going around 160kph (95mph).

Btw, I used to own a sportbike, I used it to go places...I didn't use it for fun (although it was fun to ride).

“We snowmobiled as kids and that's where I left it. We were too young to drive, but could go anywhere on sleds - stores, friends houses, out in the woods to smoke cigarettes, etc. - trails thru the woods took us where ever we wanted to go.

Now it might be fun for a day, but not enough to own one. They are sooooo expensive, make so much noise, and back when we did it, it was f'n COLD! I know there's been a lot of advances - better duds, heated seats and handlebars, stuff like that, but you really gotta dress for riding for hours in the wind and cold and it's not comfortable if you're riding. I don't begrudge anyone else the fun though, it's huge business in Maine and we have an entire trail system for them!
