Do you guys have any issues with installing a septic system?

That's a real problem with PA regulations. The guy who owns land next to our cabin supposely found only 2 legal sites... on 160 acres!

Wow, and I thought thread dredging from many years ago only happened on WhiteBlaze...

Is the ground up there clay?
My dad has been looking for land here in NC and none of the properties he put a contract on could pass a perc test for septic.

A lot of places, especially in PA, have to resort to sand-mound septic to pass.

In my area of PA everyone has a sand mound septic, unless the house is 30 or more years old.

Most of our sewers in Wisconsin aren't septic anymore, they are mound systems.

I think squirrelbait meant, "most of our septic systems in WI aren't dry well anymore, they are sand mound systems".

Right sb?

It's not? Huh, I didn't realize that.

I'm in Charlotte, Huntersville to be exact. Dad is looking for something near me but I'd be interested in acreage out west of here for sure.

I have lots of pictures
of the new house but I don't know how to post it from "my documents" .

Reading this thread again was really cool, since we're now living in the house. That was SO long ago but we finally did it and it's more amazing than we ever imagined

not yet Mark-o....

our perk test was a joke because we had 3 different people look at it and they had 3 opinions about it....luckily we're just outside of city limits so the codes werre loosened, and impact fees didn't apply.

Strat -

To post photos, you'd need to set up a photobucket account or something.

If you want to send me the photos, I'd be happy to host them. My email is on my homepage in my profile.

hpm, got your e, send you back when we git back from them Navyho's next week.

We're fixing to move to WNC around Sylva or WCU, perhaps even Bryson City, depends on what we see. Really I'd like to rent for now, so's I kin look myself and get to know ppl. I'm looking for a large acre farm, either an old dairy or tubacky farm. But with the prices at what they want(and since Hollywood has seen WNC), I don't know if that's plausible. I am looking at a 100 acre tract about 40 minutes N of Nashville, near the KY border, that's land good enough for a vineyard(I gotta test it first nachurly). That's the foothills of the Cumberland Plateau, plenty of rednecks fer nabes, just what I like. If you can stand/comminicate with local rednecks(which I yam), it really opens you up to much greater possibilities............
