Red Tide

“My work location at a supermarket is only a few blocks from the Atlantic ocean. The area is being hit by "Red Tide," and it was very difficult being outside yesterday. It was cough, cough, cough, everytime I was outside for a minute or more. I heard that the wind will shift sometime today and blow the irritant out to sea. I sure hope so. We had frequent red tides when I lived in The Peoples' Republik of Kalifornia. Fishing was useless but I don't remember any respiratory or any other ill effects...
It's caused by blooms of plankton using up the available oxygen in the surrounding water. Sea life in the affected area suffocates and croaks...”
