What I meant was that every experienced backpacker has screamed for mommy many times whether they are afraid to admit it (like Artex) or not.

How could you possibly guess my age over the internet? You must be mad psychic or something.

I've learned more stuff from new hikers, climbers and backpackers..... they don't have any preconceived notions about how things are supposed to be done.

An experience backpacker expects bad things to happen, an inexperienced backpacker believes enough gear and preparation will prevent all bad.

An experienced backpacker rarely forgets anything, can cope with adversity, knows when to turn back, is comfortable in the wilderness, and knows how to use their gear.

Damn, how long do I have to backpack before I always remember everything?! ;)

I don't think you can get experience from anyone else. You can learn from others and get advice and tips on easier ways to do things. Everyone has their own way of doing things though. Often their way is just as right as ours, just different.
