I woke up to hear about all the tonados this morning, after making all my calls and finding out everyones ok, I thought of my friends here on TT.
So if you leave near one of them that touched down and your ok, please tell us that. i know there are a great many of you that live in Tenn. I hope everyone checks in!

Tonado?
The Tonado was a fine pimpin' car!

right, right!

The sky here(Baltimore) was odd-looking and the atmosphere felt strange.
The sky was black and the air felt heavy.
I says to myself, "This looks kinda like tornado weather."
(I talk to myself a lot)
The only thing missing was that greenish look to the sky along with the blackness.
But the rain held off until this morning.

There were some deaths down in Walker county. BAMA lives down there, but in Winston or Lawrence county I think. There was another death in Cullman County, and one more in Cherokee County. Tennessee I'm not as clear on.

I think there were three fatalities in Tennessee yesterday.

The line of thundershowers came through here a little while ago but they seemed to have run out of steam.

Strong straight line winds in the Memphis area on Saturday night causing property damage with few injuries, no deaths.

Tornadic action in upper Middle Tennessee last night left at least two dead when a moble home was struck.

I understand fully the economic and social reasons that people occupy moble homes. However, I wonder if people will ever learn that they are like a hand grenade in a tornado. They literally explode.

TD is in Bruceton, just west of the Tennessee River and just north of I-40. Strong thunderstorms through there both Saturday and Sunday night.

The story I read in our paper told of one mobile home being tossed around before breaking apart with people in it. Can't they at least come up with some better way to anchor those things that doesn't cost too much?
Violin

They can anchor the frame as good as you want, and not too expensively, but the truth of the matter is, after the tornado passes by, all that will be left is the frame. The only real option for trailer dwellers is to have a separate tornado shelter that you go to everytime the weather gets bad.

Maybe just a huge foam rubber ball that you climb into until the storm passes?

Well one came through about 8 miles north of me this is the one that hit the nursing home in Bells, Tn this was an F2 and one about .75 miles south of me this was an F1. The one in Bells made a mess of things the nursing home received a lot of damage and one house due east of it is now gone. But everyone is all right and no major injuries. The one south of me moves several homes off their foundations, knocked down some trees and trashed a parking lot at Union University and a gas station further east. But all in all we where lucky just property damage.

I thought that this thread was about an italien restaurant named Torando's.

These tornados are bad. It seems that a lot of people died this time.

We had three confirmed touch downs in Indiana. One was about 20 miles NE of my parents house. I was actually on the road when the line passed. I drove through the rain shaft of one of the non-severe storms and still had 2' visibility. It's kind of strage to have this kind of system this late in the season.

Thanks for the concern Bitpusher. I don't live in Walker County. I live north of it in Lawrence County, near Mt Hope. About 5 miles north of Sipsey. We didn't have a touchdown, but I lost a few shingles due to the winds.

I just heard on the news that a town called Mossy Ridge has over 100 people missing. This town is in East Tenn. They said that Mossy Ridge was basically wiped out.
So far there has been 16 deaths and 100's injured in Tenn.

Well to get the record correct.
Mossy Ridge, which is not Mossy Ridge but Mossy ?, almost every house was lost. This is in Morgan County, TN. Most people where at church when it hit around 8:30pm. I have hiked in that area many times near Frozen Head.
So far 7 have lost their lives and 14 people are still missing.

Last night here was a very scary night.
Tornado's everywhere around me.
Watching the weather channel and hear them say "to be in Arthur at 7:35pm take shelter now!", that is one mile from my house, is very scary...yes we were in the basement and many trees down right on our street.
I have been in many of these storms and all are the same in your mind. Loss of life is the worst.
On the news one man thought there was a babydoll laying in the water near his home but was a 5 month old child that was torn from a vehicle that was flipped many times and all people were torn from the car. How sad. My heart goes out to the people that lost lives and homes.
