Willow Lake/Lake Blanche Snowshoe/Hike T rip ReportView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 1 of 1 messages posted.
“10 Nov - A few of us from the Wasatch Mountain Club got together for a snowshoe up to Willow Lake and beyond. This is my first snowshoe of the year. This was a lot different than the hiking/backpacking I've been use to down in southern utah. We met and decided to do Willow Lake. This was a cool little hike we got into. Two people turned back, I don't know why. They missed a cool winter day. The snowshoe was a little to short for me, but as a group we decided to turn back. It was snowing on us just about all the way up. Here are a few details about the trip, 3 miles r/t, 1000 ft. elevation gain, 8480 highest point. 11 Nov - Lou and I went on a hike up to Lake Blanche. Some details of the hike 5.6 miles r/t, 2580 elevation gain, 8,900 highest point. There was about 6-8 inches of fresh snow, but we didn’t need snowshoes. This is a nice little hike, but with the snow it was a little bit slow getting to the lake. Most of the time it was cloudy, but at one time the sun did pop out. When we got to the lake it started to snow. I wanted to go to the other two lakes up there, but it started to snow a little bit to hard, so we decided to head back down. This was a great day to hike up there, we meet two other people on the trail, one person was from Quebec even. We both agreed this was a very cool hike indeed. http://community.webshots.com/user/wasatchwc” 9:27:24 PM 11/11/02
