I think that an IQ test should include that game, which I stink at. Once you tell me what I CAN'T say, then I can't seem to think of anything else.”

“I got the dots but I know I screwed up the Pythagorean theorum because I couldn't remember how to figure out the hippopottamus of a right triangle. England was not easy to decipher, but it fell out eventually.

“No need to calculate squares and square roots on the triangle question if you remember the 3-4-5 triangle thing: if the perpendicular sides of the triangle are 3 and 4 (or multiples thereof), the hypotenuse (sp?) is 5 (or a multiple).”

“Martyb, you are right, one didn't need to apply the formula. You could pretty much guess the answer based on the 12 and 16. There was probably only one of the available answers that would fit, if you just picture the dimensions given.”

“There are problems with the test. For one thing, it doesn't tell you whether it is timed or not. Someone used to timed tests might rush through it, someone who thinks it isn't time might be careful.

I liked that it called me a visionary philosopher - but now I see it said the same thing about everyone else.

BTW: Personally, I don't think there is any one thing called intelligence. I think Howard Gardener's theory of multiple intelligences is more on target.

(BTW: I agreed with everything Phil said about IQ testing - it fits with the lecture I give on intelligence every semester. Phil is a smart man and a wise guy.)”

“which one was that? the one i thought was hardest was the one where you had to pick the 4th square with dots in the sequence. apparently, quite a few others were hard for me too, hehe!”

“The dots did make me stop and think. The one about the cars at different speeds also made me stop.. I came up with the wrong answer and then corrected myself.

#40 was "which shape is not like the other four" There were blue squares (with rounded edges)connected to two smaller blue squares, circles connected to triangles, etc... It was the very last one.

Mebbe we should figure out all the answers and see what the max score is... (and see who Emode sets them up with).”

yeah, that was a hard one! and the triangle one, that sucked. i picked the only one with 2 small shapes for #40...all the rest had one small and one larger. but who knows?”
