This number is the result of a formula based on how many questions you answered correctly on Emode's Emotional IQ test. But your Emotional IQ score is much more than just a number: it's an indicator of success. Research has shown that people with high emotional intelligence scores — not necessarily those with the highest IQ scores — tend to be the most valued and productive employees and have the longest and happiest romantic relationships. So, where are you most emotionally smart? Your test results show that your strongest suit is empathy — your ability to see things from someone else's point of view.” 12:13:45 PM 11/13/02 “That test is bologna. I answered incorrectly for just about each question, just guessed on some, and answered the really straightforward ones honestly. It gave a result of 97. It should have been at the imbecile level. Crock of cr@p, parlor game!” 12:15:04 PM 11/13/02 “127 in the crock of cr@p parlor game! I'm an insightful linguist. Wow! That was a big surprise.” 12:21:03 PM 11/13/02 “It is just a parlor game, although some of the questions are pretty much like questions from real IQ tests. For starters, though, a real IQ test is timed, so anytime you take a test like this online, it is invalid as a matter of course.” 12:25:16 PM 11/13/02 “127. I join the insightful linguists... again, WHAT A SUPRISE! (so I sucked at the math, huh?)” 1:18:02 PM 11/13/02 “No lizs, you belong with us @ the Anti 131 club.......]” 1:23:49 PM 11/13/02 did you try the other tests? “like for example "what breed of dog are you?" wonder what good that does for me...” 1:27:07 PM 11/13/02 “I am a St. Bernard” 1:30:13 PM 11/13/02 “What's Your Sense of Humor? Brandon, your sense of humor is Goofy Humor You have your standards: They may be low, but at least you have them. Sure, subtle wit makes some people grin and say, "Now that's funny." But you know the Three Stooges makes people howl with laughter. It's the physical stuff, the poop jokes and funny voices, that get you going because you have a goofy sense of humor.” 1:47:26 PM 11/13/02 “WTH?” 1:48:27 PM 11/13/02 “that was a fun one! my sense of humor is Banter. "Like a king of pinball, you've made an art of playing off of people because your sense of humor is all about banter. Like many great comedians before you, a roundtable of friends, or a roomful of targets, is the catalyst for what makes you laugh. It brings out the wit — and sometimes the nitwit — in everyone. "It's quantity, not quality that matters as you and your friends alternate outbursts like the riffs of a hit single. Here's the bottom line: You're a social creature. Other people's inside jokes even strike you as funny. You manage to gravitate toward people who can appreciate a tall tale and you've probably never hesitated to fire off a zinger — even in a roomful of strangers. So keep it up with your bantering methods. Laughter, after all, keeps the world going 'round."” 1:55:02 PM 11/13/02 “I'm a Banter too....hmmmm.....” 1:58:49 PM 11/13/02 “Laughter keeps the world going around? Why didn't anyone tell me? Sheesh and all this time I thought it was gravity!” 2:14:34 PM 11/13/02 “140 for me. What'd I win??” 2:42:45 PM 11/13/02 “not a free drink at Anti 131 backpackers thread!!!” 2:44:07 PM 11/13/02 “Hmmm. Guess that means I'm persona non grata on the dumb thread, huh?” 2:45:21 PM 11/13/02 “come on over Marty! We have the finest rum on the face of this planet (the rum from Mars was too expensive)” 2:45:35 PM 11/13/02 “I got an 135 as a Visual Mathematician. I thought the test was fun. I couldn't decipher the letters to come up with a ocean/city/state/animal. That was bugging me.” 2:56:49 PM 11/13/02 “It was a country.” 2:59:07 PM 11/13/02 “I didn't get the one about the codes from space. I completely guessed on that one. BTW, it was England, Lyndys!” 2:59:45 PM 11/13/02 “Duh!!! Well I guessed city on that one, I came up with Glendan and couldn't figure out WTF that was.” 3:07:49 PM 11/13/02 “Geez, Spirit! Don't give out the answers - it could put my score in jeopardy....” 3:16:20 PM 11/13/02 “sorry...to much beer on my part...” 3:17:29 PM 11/13/02 “138 here. I think #35 was kind of tough, where the two, of four dots move through the pattern. I should've had a coffee before I did that......” 3:36:04 PM 11/13/02 “Hodge come over to the 131 club!” 3:37:08 PM 11/13/02 “Shhhhhhh. Hodge! Don't give any hints, or you'll put my 140 in danger....” 3:46:01 PM 11/13/02 “135, but as stated, this is a very inaccurate test. I liked the moving dots question. I gave up on the country/city/animal whatever and just guessed.” 4:03:57 PM 11/13/02 “Oh, and I am a "Visionary Philosopher." Has a nice ring to it. But how do I cash that in? :)” 4:04:55 PM 11/13/02 “Federal grant.” 4:05:23 PM 11/13/02 how could it be... “...just the opposite of my soulmate ! the jumble was easy - the moving dot thing I didn't get...” 4:08:09 PM 11/13/02 “Actually, I just guessed "C" on everything.” 4:23:02 PM 11/13/02 “I thought the moving dot thing was one of the easier ones. I always have trouble with those word jumbles. My kids are better at them than I am. Has anyone played that Taboo game? I think that an IQ test should include that game, which I stink at. Once you tell me what I CAN'T say, then I can't seem to think of anything else.” 4:57:06 PM 11/13/02 “I did NOT get the dot! and all you "brains"... did one of the questions use the Pythagorean (sp?) Theory?? or am I NUTS!!?? lol Please say it did!! It will make me feel so semi-math-confident!!” 6:12:51 PM 11/13/02 “Lizs it did” 6:13:51 PM 11/13/02 “a 9:19:20 PM 11/13/02 “oops...that didn't work...let's try this: a2 + b2 = c2 is your friend...” 9:24:10 PM 11/13/02 “I got 4 billion! That explains my abnormally large cranium.” 9:25:59 PM 11/13/02 “I got the dots but I know I screwed up the Pythagorean theorum because I couldn't remember how to figure out the hippopottamus of a right triangle. England was not easy to decipher, but it fell out eventually. I also screwed up those damned patterns. WTF was that all about? It was like a damned quilting bee! The dots at least had a pattern to follow.” 10:00:06 PM 11/13/02 “It don't matter how smart you are, while being mauled by a grizzly. You're going to end up as a pile of bear scat. So there. Maybe the bear's going to eat your brain too!!!” 2:21:36 AM 11/14/02 “No need to calculate squares and square roots on the triangle question if you remember the 3-4-5 triangle thing: if the perpendicular sides of the triangle are 3 and 4 (or multiples thereof), the hypotenuse (sp?) is 5 (or a multiple).” 10:30:28 AM 11/14/02 “Which is why real IQ tests are timed...” 10:33:35 AM 11/14/02 “what does IQ mean?” 10:36:53 AM 11/14/02 “Martyb, you are right, one didn't need to apply the formula. You could pretty much guess the answer based on the 12 and 16. There was probably only one of the available answers that would fit, if you just picture the dimensions given.” 10:42:34 AM 11/14/02 “There are problems with the test. For one thing, it doesn't tell you whether it is timed or not. Someone used to timed tests might rush through it, someone who thinks it isn't time might be careful. I liked that it called me a visionary philosopher - but now I see it said the same thing about everyone else. BTW: Personally, I don't think there is any one thing called intelligence. I think Howard Gardener's theory of multiple intelligences is more on target. (BTW: I agreed with everything Phil said about IQ testing - it fits with the lecture I give on intelligence every semester. Phil is a smart man and a wise guy.)” 1:58:49 PM 11/14/02 “#40 was the one I puzzled over... I came up with a decent guess, but I'd love to know the answer to that.” 2:03:13 PM 11/14/02 “which one was that? the one i thought was hardest was the one where you had to pick the 4th square with dots in the sequence. apparently, quite a few others were hard for me too, hehe!” 2:05:56 PM 11/14/02 “The dots did make me stop and think. The one about the cars at different speeds also made me stop.. I came up with the wrong answer and then corrected myself. #40 was "which shape is not like the other four" There were blue squares (with rounded edges)connected to two smaller blue squares, circles connected to triangles, etc... It was the very last one. Mebbe we should figure out all the answers and see what the max score is... (and see who Emode sets them up with).” 2:15:23 PM 11/14/02 “who Emode sets what up with? yeah, that was a hard one! and the triangle one, that sucked. i picked the only one with 2 small shapes for #40...all the rest had one small and one larger. but who knows?” 2:22:21 PM 11/14/02 “Emode advertises a match-making service on the site (for the IQ test) - sounds like a version of computer dating.” 2:36:51 PM 11/14/02 “Troll 42 - IQ = Intelligence Quotient” 3:20:44 PM 11/14/02
