Where should we go?
Hey guys, I need some of y’alls expertise on this. An old buddy of mine and I have decided to either go to Big South Fork or Savage Gulf in a couple of weeks. It’s been quiet a while since my last visit to Savage Gulf and never have I backpacked BSF. We would like to cover somewhere around 30 miles and see as much country as possible. We prefer a loop route but will gladly leave a car if its worth it. Which recreational area do you prefer? What would be the best routes?

Go to Bsf, Start Laurel Fork Creek TRail To twin Arches To Charitt Creek and Back out and that should have you covered. Better than Savage Gulf. Been to Savage twice. Like BSF better.

here it is.

What's the best map available and what are campsite options? No wonder the brochure says BSF is a secret, I'm not finding a whole lot online.

I personally like Savage Gulf way better but if you've never been to BSF than you should check it out.

Trails Illustrated make a map of BSF.

I've been to savage gulf a few times . It's nice but it seems like the same ole terrain after awhile. BSF has alot of different terrain.

Just wondering how difficult the creek crossings are going to be on the Laurel Fork to Twin Arches Loop? Yes, I know their going to be cold but are we talking knee deep or waist deep here.
