“If you'd like to remove your name from telemarketing lists, call lists and email lists so that you receive less solicitations via these mediums, you can register here I registered for all three through the DMA, or Direct Marketing Association. They DO NOT use the above information to sell, nor do they contact you with any telemarketing info. They simply add your information to that which requests such materials no longer be sent to your address, that you'll reduce the number of telemarketing calls, and also reduce the amount of unsolicited emails you receive. Check it out!” 8:00:36 PM 11/13/02 “well your older and more wiser then me, so ill chek it out.. LOL j/k :) mapleleaf” 8:03:43 PM 11/13/02 “"Some consumers would like to receive fewer telephone marketing calls at home." What do they mean 'some'? It would cost me $5 to get on the do not call list? What a joke!” 9:35:46 AM 11/14/02 “A bit of warning. The DMA is directly responsable for making it easier for direct marketers to gain access and sell your contact information. In fact they have single handedly killed scores of bills that would have made the sale and transfer of said info illegal. Are you sick of being called about home loans, mortgages and home equity loans? When you get a loan is is now required by law that it be made available to other lending instutions. It used to not be that way in order to protect consumer privacy. Well not anymore thanks to the DMA. I'll bet any amount of cash that this only removes you for a short period of time and then they have a confirmed contact. Thank you for the info Obi but I wouldn't trust them to be honest with you. They were never honest when I delt with them as a marketer.” 9:56:01 AM 11/14/02 “In Pennsylvania, the attorney general started a list like that. I signed up for it and it seems to have helped. When one does get through I casually let them know I signed up on the list and they apologize and tell me they will make sure I don't get called again by their organization. Also, anybody can request that telemarketers remove their name from their call list. Some states require that they not call you again if you make that request. I find it's the best defense against telemarketers. It lets them know you are aware of your rights and they better not keep calling. Anything else, they just try harder.” 10:01:58 AM 11/14/02 “"Please place me on your do not call list." If you utter those words into the phone, most States have laws that make it illegal to call you again for the next year. If they do call you again, they can be fined. Using that sentence has greatly reduced the phone calls for me. PLEASE PLACE ME ON YOUR DO NOT CALL LIST!” 11:59:50 AM 11/14/02 “Approximately three years ago, we eliminated our phone service and went with Broadband internet service and strictly cell phones. Both Geezr and myself have a phone so there's always one at home as well as in the vehicle should one of us be on the road. It's worked out to be cheaper and we haven't had a nuisance call since.” 12:08:13 PM 11/14/02 “ ”9:46:59 AM 2/18/06 “LMAO!!!!!” 9:55:43 AM 2/18/06 “Bravo!!” 4:43:17 PM 2/18/06 “Grin!!!” 5:37:32 PM 2/18/06 “LOL, I'm gonna try that next time I get a call from a telemarketer................” 10:20:46 PM 2/18/06
