Stress
They had a segment on the news last week that claimed researchers concluded that women handle stress better than men do. When women are stressed they call a friend and talk about their problems. Men get angry and just punch and break things. I guess everyone can just go for a hike to relieve stress, that works too.

That's probably it Tango, I just flop around and accomplish it that way. And come to think of it, I was stressed because I was about to drive home. I think you're on to me!

that's cause men have to live with them, so it's really all the women's fault!

I have heard that many times before. I think I agree with it in general. I think being able to vent emotionally helps release stress.

My stress turns into muscle tension and stomach trouble.

So stanlee, how was your night on the couch?

No bitpusher, it was because emotionally I wanted to stay there and the stress of having to leave overwhelmed me.

Co-workers keep telling me I should not go on vacation because I keep coming down with illnesses or injuries. I keep telling them it's not the vacation, it's the prospect of coming home that gets me. It's always at the end of the trip or on the way home.

Maybe punching a wall would be healthier? Then I'd end up with a broken hand.

Get a heavy bag and some light boxing gloves. Hang it in your garage and beat the hell out of it. You get a workout and let off steam at the same time.

Phil, that's where my stress reveals itself too. I get terrible tension nechaches/headaches, and my stomach has been known to be in knots before an interview, etc.

I don't know if women handle stress better, just differently.

I think that it depends on the stress. My husband gets very stressed out over things that don't bother me at all, and is calm about stuff that totally unhinges me.

Where does the man's stress come from? From women releasing THEIR stress on the men? Then again is the stress that we are releasing brought on by the men? Hmmmmm...
crazygurl

11/14/02

Relationships cause stress. It's how the two people deal with the stress of the relationship that determines whether the relationship survives or fails.

Lyndy's observation is also apt: men and women stress over different stressors, although there are a lot of common stressors.

Finances and child-rearing are the two biggest stressors in relationships. Children are also adept at manipulating parents, often unsuspecting.

Sometimes going home to an empty apartment seems like a blessing, particularly if co-workers are overheard griping about their spouses. But single life is not stress-free, and there is no one there for emotional support.

I’d have to question the bias of the researchers. It seems like they went into this with the preconceived notion that calling a girlfriend on the phone is somehow ”better” than punching and breaking things. hmmmm…

Phil, same here, muscle tension and stomach problems. I think I have an ulcer. I pop Zantacs like they're candy.

My stress isn't always my wife's fault, although I have to admit that's the cause part of the time.

And really, is punching something inanimate really that much worse than a nervous breakdown? I don't go there, but I can see where some people might.

I'm sure that is correct but I have not really had problems with stress.

A lifetime of proper eating and lots of physical activity and a WGAF attitude have left me more or less stress-free.

My wife knows that if she doesn't like what I'm doing, I don't care.

Playing a musical instrument nearly every day beats the hell out of punching things for me.

Taking good care of oneself is a long term investment.

MIAMI BEACH, Florida (AP) -- A man killed his two young children Saturday by throwing them off the 15th floor of a landmark South Beach hotel and then jumped to his own death, police said.

Edward Van Dyk, 43, tossed his two sons, ages 4 and 8, to their deaths around 8:20 a.m., Miami Beach Police spokesman Bobby Hernandez said. Authorities did not release the names of the two boys.

The mother of the children, Qinuo Van Dyk, 40, told police she and her husband had been having marital problems for the past six months, but hadn't argued right before the incident, Hernandez said.

The woman heard one of her children screaming from an adjacent room in the Loews Hotel, where the Alton, Illinois, family was staying. When she walked into the room she saw her husband going off the balcony, Hernandez said.

She looked over the railing and saw her husband and her two children lying on a mezzanine roof that is about two floors above the ground.

Hernandez said that despite the marital problems, the family had been celebrating the couple's 10th wedding anniversary.

If we apply Y2’s logic here as he does to guns, crazies and the NRA it becomes clear who’s at fault here. It is not the husband’s fault or the wife’s fault. It is obviously the Loews Hotel’s fault for making a hotel that even has 15 floors. It is the hotel’s fault and the AAA is also at fault because they are an enabler.

BAN HOTELS!!!

Really, we should take pedxing's advice (from another thread) and not jump to conclusions. Who knows what happened between this couple? Is it possible the father was just an a$$hole? Or could the wife have driven him to insanity? Could she have pushed him and the kids over the edge?

usa are an as# could a person drive you to kill innocent little kids, especially if they are your own? DUMB A$$!!! No way. I was a Deputy Sheriff for 10 years so I say to you usa YOU ARE AN AS$HOLE OF GIGANTIC PROPORTIONS IF YOU THINK ANYONE HAS ANY REASON TO KILL LITTLE KIDS!

Now just for the sake of argument if 'she' is driving you crazy enough to THINK of killing your kids LEAVE, WALK AWAY.

And FYI usa you are back on ignore so I won't have to read you spouting inane drivel.
