There's a section of the AT close to me, that somehow I have never done. Hiked both sides of it, but never included the section called 'Max Patch'.

I will prolly try to hike it this spring sometime, maybe while it is still good and cold, with clear skies. They tell me there is also some sort of developed shelter up there.. "Sterchi Lodge, near Max Patch Mountain?"

Anyone have any advice, tips or knowledge of the Max Patch area?

Is that like a Nicotine patch to help you stop smoking?

Why would u want to stop hiking

One never knows when one types in a term just what will pop up. Sometimes it's even what you were looking for. Ain't life just the greatest thing?

Mmmmmmm....sunset porn.

Right click on the "x", copy the url from the properties stuff and paste into the browser.

Max Patch is one of the more beautiful places I have been...on a clear day.

It is also one of the ugliest places I have been..during a storm.

I camped on Max Patch...it was beautiful and very windy. My little "weather station" caught 42 mph gusts. Lesson learned: stake down your freestanding tent before you set it up.
