Trip Report “Well, the Joe Cocker show Thursday night at the Beacon was a rousing success. A master showman to say the least. His voice is as good as ever. Backup band was superb as well as Maxine Sharpe on backup vocals. Here was the set list: Opened with 'You Can't Have My Heart' Then went into INXS's 'Never Tear Us Apart', which was a pleasant surprise. 'When The Night Comes' followed as well as two more obscure tunes, 'This Is Your Life' and 'My Father's Son'. At this point , we were surprised by his rendition of John Sebastion and The Lovin' Spoonful's 'Summer In The City.' Great funkified version of that song. A few ballads after that, 'Up Where We elong' and 'You Are So Beautiful.' At this point, the audience went wild when he broke out into Randy Newman's 'You Can Leave Your Hat On.' This was followed by a respectable 'Respect Yourself', and then into his usual great arrangement of the old Box Tops' song , 'The Letter.' On an incredible roll at this point, Ray Charles' 'Unchain My Heart' came next, followed by the set closer, the inimitable 'With A Little Help From My Friends.' Encores after that started with Dave Mason's 'Feelin' Alright', Randy Newman's 'Everytime It Rains', Beatles' 'She Came In Through The Bathroom Window', and finished the show with the great 'Cry Me A River'. What a great lineup! Maple had a wonderful time and a memorable night, I suspect which is what counts. So, there you have it. Another ticket stub in the books.” 10:46:05 AM 11/15/02 “I have to agree it was a Blast!! Thank you treebeard so much!!! i would go and see him again before he gets to OLd. My back even thanks you ~wink~” 10:57:28 AM 11/15/02 “No prob, baby! Keep up that conditioning...” 10:58:42 AM 11/15/02 “Glad you both had a great time together. Nice write-up treebeard. Thanks for sharing it. Now it's time for Maple to get back to being her usual pottymouth self again.” 11:02:05 AM 11/15/02 “Thanks Geo! That's my wife...” 11:03:40 AM 11/15/02 “%&^%*%*& ^(&)* 88un()*)_)_)(=\ and another thing ^((&&TT$ GOT IT?” 11:05:21 AM 11/15/02 “There ya go. She has another side to her personality treebeard, trust me on this one! But we love it when she gets mad. Red face, blue air, white teeth, it's very patriotic!” 11:12:42 AM 11/15/02 mad dogs and englishmen... “am I good or what?????? Im so smart... never doubt the Stikmon...who sees all in his Silmaril... How goes it treebeard...Do you still watch for evil in the forest Fangorn? How is Quickbeam?” 11:34:30 PM 11/15/02 “Yes Stikmon! You have a right to toot your horn on that one. Actually, things worked out pretty well. She realized the truth at about 3:00. I was able to string her along for most of the day and also, at the same time, give her time to get psyched for the show. Thanx for making it fun, Buddy! As for the Ent population, I would always watch my butt. Can't wait to see the visuals on that this December. Want to see them wreak havoc at Isengard.” 2:50:22 PM 11/18/02 “He might be getting old and he is not quite as slim as he used to be, but bygod, he can still belt out the tunes. Marc Broussard opened for Cocker last night at the Botonic Garden. Weather was perfect and it was actually a tad cool by 10PM. Great concert.” 9:26:46 AM 7/19/09 “it's awesome when you see an act from another era and they rock it out. I saw Paul McCartney last night in New York City Field and he was rocking as hard as anyone out there. It was just awesome. Weather was perfect. Mick Jagger was in the crowd.” 9:37:05 AM 7/19/09 “I like Marc Broussard.” 10:29:02 AM 7/19/09 “Slim Whitman did a set at the last night's Beautiful Butts Festival - an annual event sponsored by the Butts County Chamber of Commerce. He was a real crowd pleaser; he had us both on our feet for a couple solid minutes.” 12:04:46 PM 7/19/09
