I got 8 on 9. Oddly enough they marked nuymber 1 wrong and I had got it right, 'Correct answer, C, there are. Your naswer, C, there are.' Stupid computer. I lied on number 8 because collective nouns are singular in American Standard English (The band is...), while generally plural in my English. Sorry, I didn't want to get serious about this (Can you say 'pedant'?).

6 out of 9. but i'm a math/science person, so i'll use that as my excuse!

OK. I got 8/9. Missed the one with the band. Yes, the English language can be funny. According to proper English, I guess the musicians collectively are no longer people. Now they are an 'it'. Almost sounds like it reflects the opinions of the record executives of the musicians they promote. LOL

5 out of 9. Just as I suspected, I am a true genius. I modify the rules to fit my needs at any given time.

I got 7 and 8 wrong. I knew that those two were iffy. If you added two words to the 8th sentence, The band of musicians were leaving on a tour in support of their new album, then my answer works fine.

Number seven is kind of bizarre. Almost like it depends on what part of the country you grew up in.

I was an English major in college for the first two years, so I feel a little disgruntled at having done so poorly. Ohhhhhhhh well!

Think outside the box.
IMHO, Tahoe's answer is the best one, but then again, the OTHER teachers think I'm weird.

No Violin, it is a part of growing in NJ. Most of my friends would answer all of these questions wrong. They still say "Okay all of yous go get a soda" The other day my 8 year old corrected my grammar.
