I like the red

best.

I've wanted to get some winter boots in the Saloman winter boot line for a long time. They make great hiking and XC ski boots, I believe they would make great winter hiking boot. I can't get there web site with the boots to work right now.

Do you want one boot for both hiking and ice climbing or are you looking for two pairs?

Pathman - I have a pair of Salomon Mountain X's from 97' (insulated) I've worn the heck out of them, and have had some problems with the construction (threading unravelling). Other than that, I had blisters because of them only once, and that was when I was hiking with a limp. Overall, they rock!

Their website sucks! Was there yesterday, too many bells and whistles.

I don't ice climb because I'm not that insane but anything stiff enough for that will be less comfortable for hiking.

I have two pairs of Saloman hiking boots (adventure 7 lightweights and backcountry 8 classic) and two pairs of Saloman XC boots (combi boots for tracks, backcountry 8's). All are 6-9 years old and are still going strong, with the exception of a zipper on the adventures. Saloman insulation and the fit are the best I have ever had in a boot.
