LOL, Mines' about 50 years and follows the same pattern. I did have a smoke free 7 1/2 years 1985-92. You're really hurtin' when your annual consumption of packs of cigs is the same as the number of patches.

I actually quit smoking in 1998. Three years ago I started up again but not as much - @ 5 a day and more on weekends. Now I want to be done with it.

Day 5 - I'm finding I already have more time to do other things. I like not smoking.

Good for you stomper!
I haven't so much as breathed deeply while walking past someone else who was smoking in 11 days. No patch, or anything.
I'm still working out too. Running, free weights, pilates, stationary bike. I feel great.

The life of a repo man is always intense.

I know I've posted this before ---

I'd been sipping Crown Royal just previously and someone passed the Seagram's around.  I took a medium-sized slug and it got about halfway down.... Then I coughed and blew it up into the sinuses behind my eyebrows, etc....

Worst Headache Ever within 60 seconds that lasted two days despite copious Tylenol, and then a head-cold for two or three weeks.

Pretty Sucky!

I still have the cheap sunglasses with one lens broken out for doing the J. Frank Parnell routine... but I REALLY need a '64 Malibu with lotsa lights in the trunk to do it up right!

The scillia in my trachea must be starting to function properly again because you wouldn't believe the shlt that I have been spitting up lately. green, yellow, brown, red, it's like a carnival in my throat, only grosser.

A: That's what all the mirrors are really for. To see if I'm smoking.

Good job Stomper. I find the hardest thing now is the routine of it all. Go out at lunch, on the drive home, after supper, before bed, etc. I get this anxiety about "now what do I do?" usually it passes in a couple minutes.

No Camel non-filters, I guess?

That was another trick I learned about.  You take note of what your triggers are: getting in the car, after supper, before you make a phone call you'd rather put off, etc.

Then you might pop a piece of sugarless gum instead.  Or whatever works to distract you.  As MG says, the urge will pass in just a minute or two.

It's not like I have TB or anything, just nasty colored mucus for a while in the morning. I'm sure it will pass shortly. Cheap cigars were my thing. Now it is just the mental reflex that I have to get rid of. The actual physical addiction is gone.

"Triggers"? A change in wind direction was a trigger. waking up. going to bed. music. driving. going outside. goinf back inside. coffee. alcohol. water. before eating. after eating. sex. concerts. rain. sunshine. beach. mountains. walking. stopping. taking a break. taking a dump. good news. bad news. watching the news.

That was way more hard core than me. This time I was only smoking 5 - 8 per day. Now back in Highschool I could put em away one after another all day long. I was smoking camels then too. sometimes filters sometimes not. I didn't care. No more of that shlt.
