I need more $$$!!!
Ok Guys,

You're all great at giving tips, so maybe someone has a good tip for 'How to make some extra money?"

I do have a full time job, but I'm a single mom with two kids, and my income is strictly to pay bills! Any suggestions for work to do at home are highly appreciated, anyone that has ever tried the "seal envelopes at home" kind of deal, after all I have never met any person who has ever done this!!!

If anyone has had a good experience with "work from home" please share!!!

Thanks :)

Can you spell S-c-a-m?
Companies that send out direct mail have high speed machines that can fold, stuff, seal, address and add postage to hundreds of envelopes before you could open a box of them.

our company has outside editors, who either do research for us by phone and internet, or do database entry. sounds really boring to me, but some people love it. do you have a computer?

i think it would be virtually impossible to teach anyone the database entry long-distance, but i've taught people how to do the research over the phone, and by mailing them stuff. a lot of companies have database entry they hire people to do at home, though...

the research is basically calling people at cable companies and asking them technical questions like what channels do they offer, who are the personnel, how many megahertz do they have, crapola like that...

if you're really interested, lizs, i can ask my boss about me getting another person!

Seriously Here...
Not Exactly a do it from home, but not a 9-5 job either...

Mystery Shopping....

Companies pay to have people visit their businesses to see if the food is hot, (Did they card you?), etc....usually pay for your expenses...meals and stuff, plus a set fee..anywhere from a few dollars to $50.00 depends on the complexity of the job...

The job requires a computer and a fax machine. All is done on-line but the actuall visits...

Yeah I have a computer at home :)

And journalism- I have a degree in journalism, just never worked as one.. and photography is my passion... what would be the best way to start though?? I'm in the hospitality industry and have really never looked into photography or writing...

Datebase entry sure... why not? Mystery shopper, also... but how to get to the right source!!!???

Lyra--My wife and I just made the switch to being a one-family income and she is looking for something like what you're talking about. Can I e-mail you off-board for more info?

J/K, actually, I know someone who does data entry from home. They give you a lot of data to enter, it takes up a lot of time, but I can ask around and see if the person I has any info. I don't know if they even do it anymore.

Gypsy, I would also suggest the paper route thing. I'm a single mom too, so I understand about the crazy-tight financial sit. I'm thinking about doing a paper route myself. Also, if you have any bookkeeping or accounting exp., alot of casinos (are they legal in your area) have their bookkeepers come in from like 4-8 AM after the place closes and do the work. That might be an option.

Can you stand waitressing or barkeeping? Would you be willing to do either? Just working a night or 2 a wk., you could bring in quite a bit in wages and tips. I personally can not take that sort of work, I would kill people, but alot of people I know love the extra tip money.

I can't be a waitress, I'm too clumsy!!!

Plus I'd want something to do at home(preferably), like data entry, after all I already see my kids so little... you know what I mean... I like to help them with homework, take my son to boy scout meetings, etc... I LOVE being a mom, but I NEED more money (or a new husband!!!! Any single men available?? LOL ;) - no need to run away, I was JUST joking!)

I called a data entry I saw in the paper(penny saver.. couldn't be too good!) , for medical billing, and they want you to pay $500 for the software.. hahaha.. as if!!!

I want something realistic!!!

E-Bay... I've thought of that but I have nothing to sell!! If anyone knows about any computer work I can do at home, that would be awesome! I know there must be, the thing is finding the legitimate source!

Thanks for all the tips though, I'm loving it!

I suppose a baby-sitting service is out of the question?

I know there are a lot of people who prefer someone with his/her own children for this type of thing, and the money is whatever you set it at...

i tried to find some work from home things. seems like unless you get lucky you have to have a job already and convince your boss to let you work from home.
so much #&%!$ to weed through if you're gonna try to find something else. seems like most of the stuff is a mlm kind of thing. good luck and let me know if you find anything worthwhile.

What you need to do is shop at sales. For example, if Macy's is having a 25% discount on shoes sale, you buy 4 pairs thus saving 100%, or if REI is having a big sale, really stock up and you could save over 100%. Now with all the extra money you have you can go out and spend it how ever you want. I don't understand it, but my wife claims that she's saving me tons of money.

While in high school, my bud's mother worked full time but also was a "florist" out of her home. Basically, she made all the corsages and buttoneres for the majority of students in school during prom season. She did wedding and funeral arrangements on top of that.

Another option is to do what a girlfriend of mine does. She quit her job as flight attendant to paint glassware. I thought it was the stupidest move she could do but the business has taken off. She paints when she can and sells her goods to many of the wineries in northern california. She attends all the Art and Wine festivals in Ca hawking glassware. Even has a website which pulls in some cash. She's now making more than she did as a union flight attendant.

Additonally, my friends wife recently left here corporate job to sell her style of handmade bags/purses from home. Kinda like Monica, I guess.

Monica didn't have a "corporate" job. She had a err... gave a... Nevermind.

Now that I think about it, it's a good thing she didn't go into the dress-making business.

I think you need to take a class for this... and would need initial investment in equipment... BUT doing closed captioning from home is supposed to be a cool job. I could never do it. My typing sucks as is at SLOW SPEEDS... heaven knows what would happen typing LIVE for TV!! EEEEEEEEEEK!

Here's an example of a service

Home work
I'm currently trying to make a few bucks online.

I just sold something on eBay last night and have been researching good ways to make profits.

It actually looks promising!

These are the things I would learn:

Web Pages using Front Page 2002

Downloadable eBooks using Adobe PDF files.

Accept Credit Cards online using PayPal or Click Bank.

If you're creative, you can open up an online business for a few hundred dollars (though it costs money to educate yourself on how).

I'm doing this because I want to make money to backpack, though it's easy for me to budget because I share an apartment with my dad.

So, I don't know your budget constaints, but using a web page, PayPal and eBay is a very cheap option.

You just have to find or make a good product to sell!

It takes patience though...

Fast Money
Get a pen, your going to need to get a few things first. 1. Full face tabogin or a pantyhose. 2. Gun or knife. 3. Getaway car (perferably not yours). 4. Bag to put money in. Good Luck, you now are ready to go out in this big world and stake your claim.
