What would you want us to do? Come to funeral?
Drink a beer/shot on next hike?
Have ashes spread in a certain area?
Have a memorial on Phil's Page?
Get a permanant "Ghost of" troll in your name?
Allow a selected TT'r to vote, under your name, for "Spock" in the write in category?

Personally, I want my ashes spread over a mountain range in Alaska, and a troll, so my good name will live on, and all the TT'rs to drink a glass of merlot, and laugh at all the stupid #&%!$ I've posted over the years.

Upon Tango's demise
my attorney has been instructed to post a where and when all my gear will be in a pile; a TT free-for-all will then ensue to the delight of all!!! In other words FREE GEAR!

Actually there has already been one TT to pass away.
Scurvy passed away about 3 1/2 or 4 years ago. There was a memorial on Phils page for awhile. His picture is still on Phil's Page.

Funerals are too morbid in the typical sence. When I go I want people to remember me for all the things I've done and recall all the fun times. Not standing around bummed out.

I would like to be put to rest in Hoosier National Forest. The first place that I backpacked.

Then I would like all my gear to be given away free to all the TT'ers becuase like I have always said free gear is the best gear.

My family has great funerals. We are sad of course but we don't let that get in the way of a good party. We have the open casket at the house and we stay up all night long talking and drinking and playing chess and cards and talking about our departed relative. It helps.

I am going to die in some remote place in Grand Canyon so all that will be found is a mummy with a backpack :)

Y'all could come to my party. I'm not going to have a funeral. Have fun and remember. After they take all usable bits and pieces, I'd like to be cremated and Birch can take me somewhere lovely, (Isle Royale), or keep me, whatever. No trolls in my name please. Visit the webshots albums every once in awhile.

Of course, this is all hypothetical....I plan on living at least another fifty years. =) My gramma's still movin' and shakin', she's 86. The others all died of accidents or past 75. I should be good for at least 45 years more. (God willing)

Ya know, when I saw the thread, "Pantscandy is dead," I got a sick feeling in my gut. I thought back to Scurvy. Glad that was not the case here.

So now I'm gonna have to hit you upside the head, Pantscady.

Also, dude, when I first heard your name, I thought, "man, that is the gayest thing I have ever heard in my life!!" (Not that there's anything wrong with that.... )

So I had to go read you AT journal and try to determine sexual preference.

LMAO!! I musta had more spare time in those days. :-) LOL!!

Phaed, that's so cool that you would trust me with you body. Fairwarning though, I would put you in some embarrassing position and let your body freeze up there. Maybe even put a pic of Bush in a lockett around your neck.

As for when I die... I give you all permission to eat me. I hear the butt tastes the best. :)

Budda, I have allways thought of that. Like how would any one know if a TT like my self dropped and has no one that will post on TT. Like I know alot of you CA people are real tight, so if anything happen to you guys we would know. But then there are posters that some still belive are trolls (me, violin) LOL and there is no check up to see what is going on.

How many people on TT do you actually know?
That's all the more reason to get out there and meet people in person. There would be a better chance of someone finding out that you "expired".

My Theory
I have a few TTers programmed into my cell phone. Hopefully my family would be smart enough to make a call to everyone in my phone book, and those TTers could notify you.

Like MaryPhyl, my family doesn't let death get in the way of a good time. You should hear us in the funeral home. Cracking jokes everywhere. Of course, I'd want all of you to remember me and miss me, but its OK, 'cause I'll have all the gear I want when I'm dead and hike whenever/wherever I want. :)

The way Phil, Yes and the many others handled Scurvy's death is pretty much the way I'd want to be noted.

It would be great to think that that someone would remember me while having a good hike, or a good beer... and maybe think or laugh over something I said or did.

Although we've never met, I guess when I go I will be hiking the Winds forever more with Ldhiker.

Now I just need to make sure my family knows what I want. It actually has come up in some discussion before, but I don't think my wife thought I was serious.

HMMM!!! never really thought about it. I would suspect that no one here would know of my passing and I doubt anyone that knows I hang out here would take the time to investigate.

The only thing I have requested and hinted to is that should my day ever come I would like a few 'pipes' whining away in the distance. There is nothing quite as moving in my book as a few pipes bellowing 'Amazing Grace'.

I hate the notion of being buried in one of those perpetual maintenance lots where headstones are a thing of the past. SO I guess if a headstone is out of the question the next alternative for me would be cremation and a memorial plaque place illegally in some beautiful wilderness area.

A friend of mine and I have talked about this and we both came up with this idea of having a indestructable aerodynamic weighted casket that could be drop from a plane high above the tundra. Upon landing it would stick into the thawed tundra upright and take on the appearance of some obelisk in memorial.

1. i want to be cremated and and my ashes to be placed at rock run, worlds end, and ricketts glen.

2. no funeral, viewing or flowers.

3. people requested to donate $$ to their favorite charity.

4. yuengling lager for all!!!

man, I just went through a re-read Scurvy's memorial thread. He was so young...
:o/

Ya gotta live it up while you can, I guess. It is sad when someone passes, but so much better to celebrate the life they lived, adventures they had, etc.
That's what I want.

I don't wanna be pickled and then put on display for everyone to cry over. I would hate to be sealed into an airtight box and put into a human-body landfill.

Burn me and cast me to the winds somewhere and everyone can sit around the fire, drink some, and talk about what a crazy b!tch I was! >:D
